Oh yeah remember when I wrote this? I wrote more stuff for the idea, though to be honest, it feels like I”m stealing plots from all the existing Gundam shows.
And then I copy pasted bits of the Gundam Unicorn’s soundtrack with the specific name in case the link ever breaks, just ignore all the references to unicorns. This probably feels repetitive, but I felt like writing paragraphs of stuff I will never write fanfic for. At least I’ll draw stuff for it.
The Empire of Sanguinem (4th Mov: Neo Zeon)
"We drink the blood of our enemies!"
The empire of Sanguinem was originally a hate group formed by a stray colony of political zealots who hated their Earth counterparts for treating them as inferior beings for daring to live on the frontier or descending from the criminals that were sent to space as exile. As time passed, the colonies reached a better standard of living, where life was not unlike living on Earth, but bad blood can never be forgotten.
The Sanguinem movement wanted more than an apology. Their impassioned speeches rallied much of the colonies into a sea of hatred which worsened relations between the two worlds. Finally amassing the strength of millions and advancing to a level of stability that ensured a prolonged future, the Sanguinem movement declared their independence from the Earth. The movement’s leader proclaimed themselves rulers of the newly seceded colonies and created the Empire of Sanguinem. In order to maintain order and control over their subjects, the rulers of Sanguinem created an environment of supposedly limited resources and persuaded their population to direct their hate to the Earth.
The Sanguinem conducted scientific research of their own, and developed one of the earliest working models of the humanoid mecha, which would later be perfected and used as part of their armies in later skirmishes with Earth forces. They also were the first to discover the existence of Seraphs and dedicated a hidden facility on the surface of Earth where they gathered Earth children to experiment on.
The extreme ideologies of the Empire of Sanguinem have led to various attacks on the Earth from their devoted believers. War finally erupted between the two when Sanguinem attacked a colony that remained loyal to Earth, sending it out of orbit and dropping it onto a city on Earth, decimating thousands. In response to blatant hostilities, the Earth sent their finest troops to put down the “vampires”, but what was thought to be a small skirmish extended into an agonizing conflict of attrition that has yet to come to a conclusion.
Felid Bathory (Full Frontal)
Known as the Vampire of Sanguinem for his lack of aging, Felid Bathory is a force to be reckoned with. In the field, he commands much of Sanguinem’s military forces and has served his country ever since its declaration of independence, delivering victory after victory and striking fear in the hearts of enemy pilots at the sight of his . In the royal court, he is a charming yet deceiving noble deeply entrenched in the politics, a major player in the impending succession crisis. His involvement with the Seraph research facility on the surface of Earth is not yet clear. Whether or not he truly works for the cause of Sanguinem is unknown.
Bathory plays the role of a mentor to Mikaela, referring to him as his “little vampire”. As the hand that feeds and disciplines, he hopes to shape the boy into a soldier capable of taking over for him as he proceeds with grander plans. Rather than reeducate his charge as soon as he saved him, Bathory allows Mikaela to preserve his memories, since a mere dog who can only follow orders is in no way capable of leading an army. After Mikaela’s multiple insubordinations, however, he has no choice but to do what he was supposed to years ago and makes his charge forget everything.
Mikaela Shindo (1st Mov: Banshee)
The aforementioned “protege” of the infamous Felid Bathory. One of the so called legendary Seraph, a genetically modified species of humankind meant to be a new stage of evolution. Orphaned by one of Sanguinem’s surprise attacks on Earth, he was kept in a hidden Sanguinem military facility disguised as that of Earth Forces alongside his future adversary and friend Yuuichiro Amane, who is also a Seraph. They were separated as children when Earth forces attacked the facility and decimated its inhabitants. While Yuuichiro would be found by Guren Ichinose, Mikaela was found by Felid Bathory, who recognized the potential in him and brought him to the colonies to raise as his own.
Years pass, and Mikaela has distinguished himself as a promising pilot for Sanguinem forces. His fighting prowess as a soldier and pilot earns him a frightening reputation on both sides, and is rumored to be Felid Bathory’s successor to commander of Sanguinem’s forces, if he ever gets to live long enough. Though not as devoted of a follower of the empire’s creed as his fellow comrades, he has developed a strong hatred for the Earth forces for taking his home, and his friends. Even so, he has not forgotten that it was Sanguinem that killed his family and experimented on him.
His once spotless record is stained after the emergence of Earth’s own special mecha, the Kresnik, piloted by none other than his long lost childhood friend Yuuichiro Amane. They clash several times in battle before a collision with space debris that nearly tears apart the fronts of their mechas, revealing themselves to each other. After confirming that his friend is indeed the pilot of the Kresnik as well as the existence of more Seraphs under the Earth’s forces control, Mikaela makes an effort to pursue the pilot of the Kresnik in each battle.
Fate smiles upon him when he and Yuuichiro crash to the surface in the abandoned city of Nagoya. As the two make up for lost time, and Yuuichiro tells Mikaela of his grand, impossible plan: free all the surviving Seraphs, defeat both Sanguinem and Earth’s army, and create a new, and better future for humanity’s next stage of evolution. Circumstances force the two to part ways again, but what they made was a promise both boys would hold dear to their hearts.
The change in attitude and loyalty becomes clear to his superior, Felid Bathory, most poingantly after failure to capture the Seraph pilot Yuuichiro a third time, an attempt which completely wrecks his mecha. After Bathory learns that his charge not only failed but also assisted his target to escape capture, Mikaela is put under rigorous reprogramming and becomes the test pilot of his refitted mecha, which has been renamed Kudlak. Now, he hears nothing except the voice of his master, and the boy he had made many promises to.
