Felipe known as Lip by friends and family, is a funny, confident and charming young man. His parents are from Venezuela, though he grew up in Prose. His family moved to England when Felipe was a baby and he considers himself to be a Prose local. His dad is a business man and Felipe never really bothered to understand what he does for a living, though he knew they had a comfortable lifestyle and he was content during his childhood. Felipe knew that his dad wanted him to follow in his footsteps one day. But from a young age, Lip knew that life was not for him. It often made him sad, that his dad had very little interest in finding out about Lip and what he wanted to do, all he cared about was working and his own business.
Lip has always been a little rough around the edges but that has always been part of his charm. As a child, he always seemed to attract attention whether that be good or bad and Felipe could always talk his way out of trouble. Which often happened throughout school. He had a group of friends and he was known for the parties, the risk taking, having fun and seemingly getting what he wanted. Charm was the Diaz gift. At least that’s what his dad would say. Despite appearances and often portraying himself as the class clown and appearing to be trouble on the surface, Lip actually did well in school. Felipe is naturally smart and finished high school with good enough grades to move away for university and as a teenager he felt a rush to start his own life.
Despite his dad wanting him to go into finance or law, Lip applied for history at university. This small amount of independence was good for him, for the first time in his life, Lip felt like he could fully be himself. He moved in with a friend who he’d had an on and off relationship with and he studied history and language. Being at university and around people like him was the change he’d needed, no pretending, no trying to live up to his dad’s expectations. He experimented with clothes, hairstyles and he had never felt so free.
Throughout university, Felipe continued to grow and find himself, to make new friends and everything in his life felt good. He slept with men and women, he worked in a bar and his passion for history and writing grew. When he turned 21, Lip inherited money from his family and he wanted to do something for himself. Felipe graduated with honours and took the next step of studying a masters. It was exciting and for the first time in his life, really making his own decisions. Lip continued to study history, eventually gaining a doctorate and taking a place as a history lecturer in London, moving himself away from Prose for the first time.
Though Lip’s life changed drastically when his mom got sick earlier this year and Felipe gave up his job and moved his life back to Prose. He is an educated young man and he’d never intended on buying a bar. Though when the elderly owner was selling the bar he’d worked in during high school, it all seemed to fall into place. He bought Rosen’s Bar and Lip found himself enjoying working behind the bar once again. He’d always been a natural bartender, good at making the drinks and pretty good at listening to people and he enjoyed the busy and loud atmosphere. He made a classy but easy pub vibe, with nice lighting, furniture and good food.
Felipe is a caring and affectionate young guy, he enjoys being around people and he is always there for his friends. Lip usually comes across as a happy person and not many people know that the charming and bright bartender has a doctorate in history.
