West Ham United suffered a huge 5-0 defeat against the reigning Premier League champions Manchester City on the opening day of the season at the London Stadium on Saturday, but the humiliating loss may have further repercussions. The Irons signed Felipe Anderson for a then club-record fee of £36m last summer, and the Brazilian went on to score nine goals and provide a further four assists in his debut campaign in the English top flight. The 26-year-old will be hoping to improve upon that record this term, but it was always going to be difficult against Pep Guardiola’s rampant team as they look to win a third successive title. And so it proved to be the case, but more frustrating for Anderson than his failure to pick up a goal or assist against the Citizens was the fact that he was forced off 20 minutes into the second half. The above image where the attacker has one short leg rolled up suggests he has a thigh issue – concerning at this early stage of the campaign – and his visibly disappointed reaction perhaps says it all. Sky Sports journalist Gerard Brand has picked West Ham United’s club-record man Felipe Anderson as the Premier League 2018/2019 summer signing of the season in a collaboration with fellow writers. WHAT DID HE SAY? The Brazilian international hooked up with new manager Manuel Pellegrini at London Stadium last summer, signing for a fee of £36 million from Lazio. At the time, the deal had many doubters, mainly from those who watched him in Serie A and consistency seemed to be the biggest worry surrounding the Anderson move for members of the Claret & Blue Army. However, fast forward the best part of a year and after a sluggish start, the number 11 is a firm fan favourite in east London for his goals, assists and general flare, even breaking back into the Brazil squad. “Though he’s not a like-for-like replacement for Dimitri Payet, Felipe Anderson certainly has Hammers fans off their seats like the Frenchman did. The Brazilian was slow to start, but then chipped in with seven goals in nine games in November and December, and there’s a clear reason why Real Madrid are thought to be planning a move for the 25-year-old if they fail to land Eden Hazard. He may not have scored in 2019, but Anderson still remains a huge threat for West Ham; his running off the ball creates space for others and often goes unnoticed, and his statistics are up there with the best. He’s ranked in the Premier League top 10 for chances created, final third passes, dribbles, through-balls and tackles.” ANDERSON’S BEEN AMAZING, BUT BEST SIGNING IS A STRETCH While Anderson has impressed hugely in his first term in English football, exceeding many expectations and attracting unlikely interest, signing of last summer is a little bit of a stretch. At times, the attacker’s performances have been wide of the mark and he has gone missing for large periods for the Irons, take his goalless year so far – he’s just not been consistent enough to warrant this kind of accolade. Inanews – Marko Arnautovic tidak bersimpati kepada mantan manajernya Jose Mourinho setelah dia membawa West Ham United untuk meraih kemenangan dengan skor 3-1 atas Manchester United. Felipe Anderson membuka keran golnya di kompetisi Premier League dengan gol backheel yang cantik, dan West Ham unggul dua gol setelah Victor Lindelof membelokkan tendangan dari Andriy Yarmolenko hingga membuat David De Gea tak berdaya. Pemain pengganti Marcus Rashford sempat memberikan harapan bagi Manchester United dengan golnya, tetapi Arnautovic mampu mencetak gol ketiga untuk The Hammers, untuk memberikan kemenangan bagi timnya di Stadion London. Ketika ditanya oleh BT Sport apakah dia punya pesan untuk Mourinho, pemain internasional Austria itu menjawab: “Tidak, tidak ada yang perlu dikatakan. Saya melihat tim saya. Kapten tim Mark Noble pun mengungkapkan keterbatasan waktu pemain itu di lapangan latihan minggu ini. “Marko belum berlatih banyak,” katanya kepada BT Sport, setelah West Ham meraih 3 poin berharga akhir pekan ini. “Kami tahu dia mengalami cedera. Untuk menampilkan performa seperti itu dan berlari seperti yang dia lakukan di pertandingan, itu menunjukkan bahwa dia bekerja keras untuk tim. Itu adalah performa yang fantastis untuk para pendukung kami. Mereka telah melihat beberapa performa yang buruk dari kami musim ini, tetapi kami kali ini menunjukkan performa benar-benar bagus,” pungkasnya. Dengan kemenangan ini, maka  West Ham United berhasil merangkak naik ke posisi yang lebih baik di klasemen, meski mereka baru mengumpulkan 7 poin dari 7 pertandingan.
