Some sort of threat, to you or someone relevant to you. I get the sense that ‘stiff body’ could mean someone who is dead, but whose spirit or influence is warning you of the threat. Or a recent death that may pose a threat to your stability. It’s straightforward and vague at the same time. Hm.

Short message, but a strong one. It’s from the intro for the book, explaining the history of our relationship with cats. Sometimes, it was an animal worthy of great respect, sometimes, it was intentionally destroyed in large numbers. A person or figure whose reputation has had huge ups and downs. A person who, despite the downs, has persevered and won back the hearts they lost.

I understand what it's saying, but it's really hard to explain...uh,

While pretty vague, it's referring to how one thing can be further explained into many things. Something that appears as one definitive thing at first, can actually have multiple facets and connections to other things. Something that seems simple and unremarkable can actually be the connection to a lot of other things - like when you add details into something you write.

I'm not sure if that made a ton of sense, but that's the feeling I'm getting. "I may be one thing, but actually, by extension, that means I'm all these other things too. In short, I am this."

This excerpt is referring to a large mechanical contraption called the Clock Dragon, which seems to have prophetic abilities. Its performances/visions always cause a stir among those who witness it, for better or worse, and it remains a constant theme throughout the series of books.

This feels like a warning to keep what you (or someone else) knows hidden. Even if you don’t realize you know something, or even if you don’t think the information is important, keep it hidden. There may be malicious forces looking to use it to their own advantage. Keep your knowledge or abilities out of sight until the coast is clear; perhaps work on fixing them or improving them while you’re waiting. They will no doubt come in handy sometime soon in the future.

The “she” the excerpt refers to is an old servant that Glinda hired, and Glinda kind of wants to get rid of her but can’t come up with a decent reason. The servant is old, boring, easily offended, and just has nothing remarkable about her. Glinda is referring sarcastically to how the old woman just won’t die; even if Glinda died, she would go on working somewhere else.

A tedious person or task that can’t be gotten rid of. At the same time, a predictable, dependable person that will always be there, whether one wants them to be or not. Monotony from stability.

This is towards the end of the book (though nowhere near the end of the series.) If you plan to read this book, this is a bit of a spoiler.

The origin of one of the major characters (Mother Yackle) has been revealed, after she had been living her whole existence having no idea where she came from or who she was. Brrr is another major character, and he is simply remarking what is happening, because Yackle is blind and cannot see it. 

Her origin, her existence, turned out to be far more important than she ever realized. She has closure, and peace. Brrr has more questions than ever before.

Discovering where you, or someone/something relevant came from. Knowing one’s roots. Understanding one’s purpose at long last. Completing the circle. Returning to whence one came. Knowing where one fits in the scheme of existence. Knowing one is important. Angels.

Hi! Would you mind giving me a bibliomancy reading from "They Say, I Say"? ;w;

Initially random.org gives me page 237, and I feel myself drawn to a paragraph expressing gratefulness for help given, and helpful suggestions.

I am drawn to page 206, though. It lands on the beginning of a scholarly argument about nuclear waste, specifically on a blurb about the author winning a “genius” award.

This reading feels surprisingly veiled even though it came from such a dry academic book. Something about extreme gratefulness, and getting help from a genius. It’s hard to tell whether it is implying you are the one being thanked, or whether you are thanking someone for their help. Intuitively, I feel like it’s you being referred to as the ‘genius.’ I think it means someone will be (or has been) very grateful for your wisdom on some matter.

Can I have a reading with They Say, I Say ? :)

Initially, I landed on the Preface of the book, where it talked about learning how to not only express yourself, but how to do so by responding to what others have previously said.

Then I let random.org pick a page number, and this is where my finger fell:

This seems to tell me that you, or someone relevant to you, is trying to express their opinion, but they may be having trouble doing so in a way that feels informative and helpful, instead of being aggressive and overbearing. A message to learn patience.
