Okay, thanks for the crack pairing XD I don’t even know how they could be together. Except if Mayuri was looking for new, consentant test subjects, from other divisions because his men are wary / already tested upon / explosive / whatever. Rikichi wants to become strong like Renji, but he knows he hasn’t enough power, so he decides that maybe, it could be a good idea, if he’s not turned into a bomb, a monster, a Hollow or a house plant. So he volunteers. Unlike the others, who undergo the experiments to get some power, Rikichi actually asks about the procedure, because he wants to understand. At first, Mayuri finds it bothering. Test subjects need to SHUT UP ! But he finds enjoyable to explain science (and boast a bit), and to his surprise, Rikichi learns and memorizes everything. Soon, Rikichi becomes Mayuri’s favourite subject, so much that he’s spared the most dangerous experiments, and even gets some anesthesia before and comforting tea after. Akon and Nemu find it really cute, the captain just growls and tells them to go back to work or he’ll dissect them.And comes the day when… Mayuri realizes that, even if his heart is in a jar in his office and his brain has been totally rewired, he feels SOMETHING for that little shinigami. Not love, of course. Love is just the effect of some chemicals. But he wants to keep him with him. Talk about science with him, test on him, then make him a good cup of tea and discuss the results, and maybe even try some normal things. So he goes to the 6th division, tells Byakuya that Rikichi is transfeering and there’s nothing he can do, then goes, grabs the little shinigami, and takes him back to the 12th. Rikichi is more than happy to comply. Being around Renji-sama is cool, but being with the scientist he admires and maybe-likes-but-he’s-not-really-too-sure-but-maybe-we-could-try is way better.
who wakes the other one up with kisses : Mayuri is always up before Rikichi, and he doesn’t like losing time with things like kisses and such, because Science is waiting, and he has to put his make-up on first. Rikichi understands, because it's important for Mayuri, so he doesn’t demand kind gestures when his lover is busy. But sometimes, when he watches him paint himself white, he can’t resist, and kisses him on the cheek just to leave a lips mark on the make-up. The first time he did it, Mayuri swore and promised to replace his heart with an alarm clock (but he didn’t do it). Rikichi waited several weeks before trying again. This time, Mayuri kissed him in return and left him a nice black lipstick mark. Now it’s a game between them, going to work with a black-and-white kiss shape.
who cooks for who : …. does Mayuri stilll need to eat ? Rikichi is not too sure, but since he knows that HE needs it, and not those strange things that Mayuri brews in his lab. he decides that he’s gonna take care of the food question. He’s not the best chef, he knows it, but he can wrap a meal up and bring it to Mayuri. Half of the time, the captain doesn’t eat it because he’s too busy. And once, he used it for an experiment. But it doesn’t stop Rikichi, he just takes the leftovers back and cooks something else. The only thing Mayuri cooks are cupcakes, because he likes it. Everyone in the division knows not to say anything, unless they want to suddenly miss an organ or two. Rikichi finds it cute and tasty.
who is the morning person/night person : Mayuri is definitly a morning and night person. He has to wake up really early, because putting on his make-up all over his body, then painting the black marks takes a lot of time. More often than not, Rikichi wakes up more or less at the same time, because he’s a light sleeper anyway, so he just lazies in bed and looks at his captain lover. Rikichi learns really fast that Science runs late in the evening, and when inspired, Mayuri doesn’t stop to go to bed. He stays with him, helps him or discuss the results until he can’t stay awake. Sometimes, he leaves alone, sometimes Mayuri decides to stop and go to bed with him. Science doesn’t allow for lots of sleep, but it’s okay for both of them. And there are even mornings when Mayuri decides to *shock* sleep in ! Rikichi likes Science, but he loves those lazy moments shared with Mayuri more.
who is the romantic one : by default, it is Rikichi, because Mayuri has a… warped idea of what is romantic or not. The little shinigami tries to have kind gestures besides helping with science or bringing ustensiles, like cooking, trying to find plants and such for his captain lover to experiment on (but no animals !), those kinds of things. He’s not too sure it works, but sometimes, he catchs Mayuri almost-smiling, and he knows that he is happy.Mayuri doesn’t understand romantism or love. After all, that’s just chemical effects. But Akon explains him that, to keep your lover, you have to show him that you like being with him. So Mayuri does his best to at least incorpore Rikichi in his daily life. He explains him everything he does, makes him tea and lets him take as many breaks as he wants. He doesn’t criticize him, yell at him or try to turn him into a living weapon, which is, according to Rin, quite an accomplishment. But the most important gesture Mayuri does, is making Rikichi part of his morning routine, and allowing him to help with his make-up. He doesn’t tell him it’s a huge step, to allow him to see him naked (Mayuri sleeps in a yukata) because he doesn’t know how to say it, but he doesn’t need to. Rikichi understands, and he’s glad to be able to help him.
who is the top when it comes to sex : Mayuri is. But his vision of sex is rather… particular. He’s more inclined to cut Rikichi up or open and maybe manipulate his organs around, than having intercourse. At first, Rikichi is rather put off by it, because it’s strange. He wants to try for his lover’s sake, but he doesn’t want the pain part at all. So they reach an agreement. Mayuri is allowed to cut him open however he wants to, as long as Rikichi is sedated, and he doesn’t leave scars. They sometimes have intercourse, but it’s rather rare. Rikichi is the one initiating it, even if Mayuri is on top. It doesn’t happen often, because the captain isn’t that interested in those kinds of activities beyond scientific observations. They do it because he wants to please Rikichi, or his lover gonna go away, but he’s often busy disserting on the effects it has on his body, and Rikichi has to remind him about the task at hand, it tends to kill the mood. It doesn’t mean the little shinigami doesn’t like to smudge the pretty white make-up, though.
who would lead in ballroom dancing : none, because Rikichi isn’t the most graceful around, and Mayuri doesn’t dance because it doesn’t have any application in Science.
who is the more cuddly one : it has to be Rikichi, since at first, Mayuri has no interest in cuddling, and besides standard observations in human courtship and mating rituals (as he neatly label his notes), doesn't even know what it means. It takes Rikichi gathering all his courage and sliding under his labcoat when the lab heater is broken, to understand. Well at first, he vaguely wants to use his then-new lover as a target practice, but Rikichi explains that it's something that shinigamis do for fun, because it feels good. Mayuri finds it strange, but he's a bit interested in knowing more about it, and it makes Rikichi happy, so why not ? So he sometimes lets the little shinigami hug him. But most of the time, cuddles time happen at night, when all work is done, they can stop thinking about Science so much, and after Mayuri has taken his make-up off, they can end the day with a hug, and fall asleep in each other's arms.
who is the one to most likely pick the movie they watch : if they could watch movies in Soul Society, and took the time to do so somewhere between two experiments,Rikichi would be the one who always picks. He'd tell Mayuri something like "you'll see, you'll like this one, it has lots of science !", and Mayuri would just shake his head and growl, and then he'd nitpick about absolutly everything, and Rikichi would let him because it's funnier like that.
who is the one who would pay for dates : dates ? What are those ? Nonsense ! There are no time for dates when you are buried in SCIENCE ! And let’s be honest, it’s not that Mayuri is uncomfortable when outside his division when it’s not for his experiments, but he just doesn’t like it, so he doesn’t go. Rikichi likes to go out sometimes, but he spends time with his friends, goes for drinks or just for a bit of fun with Rin and Hanataro, and then comes back to his scientist.
who is the one who would initiate a quicky during classes science : NO ! BAD ! YOU DON’T FOOL AROUND DURING SCIENCE ! There are set times for those kinds of things, during experiments or before bed, and that’s when it happens. You don’t have sex when Science is waiting ! Rikichi sometimes jokes (but not in front of Mayuri) that both of them are married to Science, and they cheat behind its back, but even he has to admit it’s not really funny. It’s not always really easy to admit that Science is that important in their relationship. But it doesn’t mind when he can hold a make-up-less Mayuri in his arms, and know that he’s the only one who’s able to know the softer side of the captain of the 12th division.
