Emily and Madeleine
This morning we hacked in the rain! And then it was dry this afternoon and we played in the school over some poles. I was very brave and cantered the single pile which was a success on the left rein, and on the right he took to leaping it as he touched the pole on the first go and scared himself 🙄. Deli gave another pony ride and I got to ride two ginger mares. One Arab which I think is my first ride on one. She is so narrow compared to Deli and beautifully schooled in lateral work. Then the lovely Tori who was very tired but polite about having a stranger walk her about. I've had the most wonderful holiday with fantastic friends hopefully it wont be quite as long as 9 years before we get together again with our ponies #townendfellpony #fellpony #dressage #dressagepony #selfconfidence #equestrianblogger #ponyblogger #poniesofinstagram #hacking #realrider #ridergoals #polework (at Lincoln, Lincolnshire) https://www.instagram.com/p/B3ktC5wh_bj/?igshid=ty2k30632ndu
This morning 6 of us went for a hack 😱. The others walked, Deli bounced. Took Deli round a second time and we cantered most of the grassy hack which was 80% of it. Accompanied by Chesca and her gorgeous Arab Jay. Who allowed us to lead for most of it and then very politely passed us prompting a fantastic gallop 🐎. Then lunch which also involved takeaway cake 😊. This afternoon tried trec obstacles which push Deli and I out of our comfort zone. He walked the tarpaulin in hand and ridden, the noodle figure of 8 and immobility ring we managed in hand. He wasnt too sure of the water, which was risen but Meera donned her waterproof trousers and wellies and kindly led him through for me 😘. We used a cross country jump to remount and attempted the figure of 8 poles which were meant to be done one handedly. Then the bending poles which is his absolute favourite! Played on a bank, footbridge and podium to finish. Then we all swapped ponies and I got to try out an Icelandic tolt. I love how much more narrow they are to a fell and the tolt is such a effortless smooth gait. #townendfellpony #fellpony #dressage #dressagepony #selfconfidence #equestrianblogger #ponyblogger #poniesofinstagram #hacking #realrider #ridergoals #trec #zilco #icelandic #tolt (at Lincoln, Lincolnshire) https://www.instagram.com/p/B3iReN4hmWC/?igshid=pb7qvu7m1qzu
Deli and I have come upto Lincolnshire for a little holiday with some good friends. Epic 5hr drive up through biblical rain and squeezed in a small schooling session and mini hack before fish and chips at the cottages. Despite insisting on loading only in total privacy hes been very good. Excited for the rest of the weekend. #townendfellpony #fellpony #dressage #dressagepony #selfconfidence #equestrianblogger #ponyblogger #poniesofinstagram #hacking #realrider #ridergoals #zilco #holiday #lincolnshire https://www.instagram.com/p/B3fke5Th6hS/?igshid=lerjeqnqflxr
🖤🐴🍊🖤🐴🍊🖤🐴🍊🖤🐴🍊 Took The Black Horse to The Black Horse again. Did the 7 gates ride which includes some lovely canters in some fields. Met a very noisy lady shouting for her dog... I really dont understand why people let their dogs off in places that arent enclosed when they havent got a good recall 🙄. Could hear her shouting for the majority of my ride 😂. Deli was keen and I was pleased that we missed the horse and cart on out way back. Doubt Deli would be too keen should we have met them on the road! #townendfellpony #fellpony #dressage #dressagepony #selfconfidence #equestrianblogger #ponyblogger #poniesofinstagram #hacking #realrider #ridergoals #zilco https://www.instagram.com/p/B280_Y0BcNj/?igshid=t22haxek4e6o
One fixed stable door 😁 Deli was too busy stuffing his face at his #haybar to pose sore his head over the door. Deli stayed out today, and was so much more chilled. I forget that's the reason I dont like to school him fresh from his stable. He was noticeably calmer and did some lovely supple work. Even so I didn't want to stop! So hes staying in tonight and will go out during the day for now so he's easier to school after work. #townendfellpony #fellpony #dressage #dressagepony #selfconfidence #equestrianblogger #ponyblogger #poniesofinstagram #hacking #realrider #ridergoals #schooling https://www.instagram.com/p/B2zqFrfhuY-/?igshid=96oay4u1kmwq
Disaster this morning. Bring Deli in on my way to work and the top hinge to his stable door shears off as I'm shutting it. Manage to shut it and hope for the best. Luckily Deli doesn't rub on the door so I leave him in and text YO. Handyman will fix it tomorrow, which is good seeing it fell off completely this evening 😂. So the pony will have to stay out all day tomorrow in the bad weather. Luckily I managed to borrow a rug, so I can change him into a dry rug tomorrow morning as its non stop rain all night. Schooled in the rain and he was good, very tense to start off with and took a while to slow down and listen to me but we finished on a good note. I really need to book a massage and do some yoga/pilates. I can bearly lift my leg onto the mounting block and struggle getting my foot onto my knee to put my socks on. Also my left arm is sore lifting it about shoulder height. Maybe I did more damage to myself in Idaho than my coccyx (which still hurts!) 😭 #townendfellpony #fellpony #dressage #dressagepony #selfconfidence #equestrianblogger #ponyblogger #poniesofinstagram #hacking #realrider #ridergoals #schooling https://www.instagram.com/p/B2xGVLlBHlA/?igshid=5h8v0fhgr0zl
So much for the bad weather this morning. Took advantage of it not thundering or raining and went for a quick hack. Whilst riding I had a pondering about self confidence and how it effect the confidence of your pony. Deli will take charge if he feels I'm not upto the job. In Idaho I learnt to just go with it, trust your horse and let them sort themselves out. Horses have a great self preservation instinct (in most cases) so whilst sometimes it may seen that they dont make the best of choices in a situation we should at least give them a chance to sort themselves out than interfering and making it worse. So I guess confidence is a lot of faking it until you not faking it anymore #townendfellpony #fellpony #dressage #dressagepony #selfconfidence #equestrianblogger #ponyblogger #poniesofinstagram #hacking #realrider #ridergoals #zilco https://www.instagram.com/p/B2tcZWjBV6h/?igshid=r04596v383dl
