Wow time does fly by. 4 years ago Deli was having his feet xrayed. Such a good boy stood stock still with no need for sedation 😍. The result was side bones issues: which baffled my farrier as Deli was only 5 at the time and had text book feet which wouldn't give away any cause for concern. Noticed this great quote in the gym the other morning... had to share. Had a PT session last night as wanting to shake things up a bit with my workout routines... Struggled to get out of bed this morning. It's so cold and grey at the moment 😔. Deli wasn't too happy that I'd asked for him to stay in. Think he was a little cold too bless him. Went for a hack, he was quite keen and bounced most of it 🤦‍♀️. Showed a great dislike of standing still. Tried to take a nice photo of the deer we came across but Deli was having none of it. So took a video instead. Should have worn the go pro! One upside for this chilly windy weather was that Deli was hardly sweaty despite bouncing most of the ride. Deli had the farrier yesterday morning. Despite being fidgety before Matt arrived Deli was really good. Didn't even have to touch his nose when he had the hinds nailed on 👏. Gave him the day off as I had the day off work to go shopping with my mummy 🛍 Today I schooled and bearing in mind he had the day before off he was fantastic. I felt super confident. Worked through some of my Debby lesson. Also I've taken on board Olivia's advise about contact. So I was worrying less about Deli's frame and focusing on my contact. Went to the gym after and worked on my lower body and core. Whilst I'm motivated to go I can slack off a bit. This beautiful picture taken by Abi of Sapphire came up on my memories today 😍 Debby lesson today and she was very complimentary of the progress I've made. We worked on my leg position. I've worked so hard on getting my left leg stronger that it's overtaken my right. So now I need to think right toe in and with my left leg toe up. We also worked on my contact. Debby had me bridging my reins so my knuckles were really close together to get my left hand to be still. At first I said I wouldn't be able to turn. But it really cemented for me how much I need to use my outside rein to control the shoulder and turn. We alternated between me linking the reins or thinking hands together mentally. Also worked on me not hollowing my back in the canter... which in turns helps to keep my seat still. So much that I then need more leg to keep the pace. Had a mechanical horse lesson today. Would thoroughly recommend it. Was really helpful. Got loads of instruction on my position and what I need to work on. I hollow my back, need to move my seat less in the canter and think light feet in the trot. After Olivia putting my stirrups up two holes on Thursday my stirrups were put up another hole! Now I do really feel like a jockey. Deli's having a few days off.
