Day two was just as good. Of course our magnolias had faded. So glad we had worked on them first and Also had the photos as a back up. So day two was a lot about figuring out the background and foliage. I had started off a lot darker in my day one but in day two and I realized how bright the flower was I brightened up the background. Sometimes it takes a while to figure out what your painting needs and you have to navigate that as you go along. Also it’s great to work with experienced painters because they just go go go! And the afternoon of day two I did a second painting. I realize that a hot transparent oxide red ground was not good as a background for pink carnations. So I took the background back to gray. It was a good lesson. Also in day two I talked a lot about paint quality and brushstrokes. Once you have the drawing and the color, you can bring up the body of your paint and make brushstrokes. To me this is the fun part. Also here are some photos from our day to lunch at Saint Roch market. It was a wonderful Wait to spend the day. Which was great since it was my birthday. #FeltLikeVacation #PaintingFlowers #artworkshop #neworleans #studiothibodeaux #happybirthdaytome (at New Orleans Healing Center) https://www.instagram.com/p/CP5lwr_lTV_/?utm_medium=tumblr
