(Fem Qrow)
She’d been in worse scraps than this, surrounded by Grimm seemingly no way out and a semblance that worked for her when IT wanted to. And worked more when she could focus her attention on a single one out of the group but there was no real way of knowing who of these beasts would go first. Taking to crow form? No that was a bad idea, they’d likely paw her down before she could gain enough speed to get herself out. “Shit...Just what I fuckin’ need.. A no way out exit strategy....Wait...” Her voice was whispered lest she force the Grimms hand so to speak. Light mahogany eyes darted between two of them, a figure.
Another Grimm? Most likely, with her shit luck it most certainly was or at the very least could be. Surrounded and outnumbered always the case for this ‘child of misfortune’.

Family is messy. Family is difficult.
Qrow Branwen knows this well.
From a mercenary to a Huntress, she had changed, no longer willing to learn how to kill the people that had become comrades, a family-in-arms to her. She turned her back on her upbringing, and in doing so, exacerbated the rift growing between her and her twin sister.
Qrow had learned many things from being Headmaster Ozpin's go-to fly on the wall, so to speak, had learned many things by dint of being one of the Branwen Tribe's prized daughters, and from learning and living as a part of Team STRQ.
When Qrow found out her sister and their teammate Taiyang were pregnant, she was happy. When her older niece was born, she was estatic, the little mite was a spitfire, like her mother. When her sister left her family, abruptly, she was angry. Conflicted. She knew too much, and at the same time not enough. Something was brewing, and Ozpin was planning for an event, the gears of fate kept turning.
When Summer Rose picked up the pieces that Raven had left of Taiyang, she mended his heart, and gave little Yang another mother figure. Soon, Tai and Summer found themselves with child, and Qrow was once again blessed to meet her little baby niece, Ruby.
Unfortunately, Summer went on a mission, and never came back home, further shattering Taiyang, who fell into a deep depression. Qrow pleaded with Ozpin to let her stay with and take care of her nieces, he let her, on the condition that she take one mission first.
It is on this mission, she finds a ransacked farmstead, recently pillaged by Branwen Raiders, and a tiny, crying newborn, hidden away. She cradles the tiny boy to her chest, hot, angry tears cascading down her cheeks- this is her sister's doing, mayhaps not entirely intentional, but Qrow is angry, at herself, at Raven, at Ozpin, at Tai and at Summer, but as the little one stirs and fusses, she knows that she must set things right.
She returns to Beacon, heart heavy, mind awhirl with information, sarcasm on her lips and a baby on her hips. Ozpin stares, so too does his secratary. They take the information and the temporary resignation with grace. Qrow's four day mission window was unneccessary, it took her two days to gather what she could for the child, and what she had to for her employer, before she was able to return home, and introduce Oscar, as his blanket proudly proclaimed, to his cousins.
It takes Tai a good few years to recover, and it doesn't take an empath to see that he's still raw, hurting. He's able to be there for his girls, and for Qrow and Oscar too. When Yang is 8, Ruby is 6 and Oscar is toddling into his third year of life, Tai asks Qrow to stay with him, give the kids a good, relatively stable home. It shocks Qrow to the bone when he asks her, so casually the one evening while they're eating a family dinner, a big goofy grin on his face, while Yang and Ruby giggle and try and cajol their Auntie Qrow to stay with them forever, pretty please, and her baby just babbles and smiles so imploringly up at her, how could she have said no?
Surprisingly her Semblance has decided that the catastrophes she's been through have been enough for the next 9 years, and the Xiao Long-Rose-Branwen family has a nice, relatively calm and peaceful almost-decade. When Oscar is 6, Ruby is 9, and Yang is 11, Ozpin recruits Qrow back into the thick of it, spying, information gathering, teaching.
When Yang is 17, she's accepted into Beacon. This is what Qrow expected, seeing as how her Firecracker was raised. What she didn't expect was Ruby getting caught up in busting a dust heist, and catching Ozpin's attention.
When Qrow finds out from an amused Ozpin, and then later from a happy Ruby, that Ruby also got accepted into Beacon, she isn't sure whether to be happy or to be upset. (Over dinner that night, the good news makes Qrow roll her eyes in fond exasperation. Said news makes Taiyang almost choke on his water, and makes Oscar pout, because he wants to join his sisters at Beacon, but he's stuck at Signal, and he really doesn't want his parents to be upset with him.)

Garruk had been awoken from his nap by the sounds...
With Harbinger in blade mode Qrow’s fingers hovering over the button that would allow it to form scythe mode in case who or what ever was barreling towards was actually a Grimm. But that scream had her rethinking the whole situation. It was gutteral sure but it was quite human in its pitch and sound.
If there was one thing having an aven form was good for, it was being able to tell the differences in sounds from a distance. This hulk of a man towered over her 5′11″ frame by at a minimum of 3 feet. He was a wrecking ball so to speak leaving Qrow to only stand in her defensive position in awe and shock at how easily he took down each of the Grimm that attacked him.
Seconds passed and each fell to dust drifting on the breeze. It wasn’t until he had finished that she really paid any mind to what he’d said when he had finished. With a sigh Qrow stood a bit more upright. collapsing Harbinger to its easy carry mode of a shortened blade under half of its full length which sat at the small of her back.
Dusting her shirt, jacket and pants off Qrow stood looking over at him. “I’m fine..Thanks, I think?”
Any Lycan things that Jaune keeps on the down low from Qrow, in that mom Qrow au?
“Don’t you do it.”
((Imma do it)
“DON’T!!!”
((Hey Qrow @unfortunatelilbirdie did you know that Jaune sneaks out once a month every full moon, to in this order fight other werewolves, and basically try and get with girls you wouldn’t approve of.))
“Well time to move to Vacuo!”
