Week 6 Day 2
Learnings:
Yesterday we learned javascript and I wasn't getting some of the core concepts until Quinn decided to talk to me. It all has to do with the idea of objects and in he objects you can have hashes and keys. You can create different attributes in objects the minute you ask someone to input the data.
I finally got Rspec yesterday. We did a little review in the am over it and I am happy. Some people complained about the time but if we are only as strong as our weakest link what do they want the professors to do? new material all the time.
Headaches, I have been getting a lot of headaches and it is so not fair. It just keeps on persisting in the front - right between my eyes.
Amazed:
I am amazed I get up every day to go to the Flatiron district because I don't like crowds and I didn't like taking crowded subway stations. It is amazing that when you really want to do something their are numerous things that you do to get that. I believe this was one of the best decisions I have made and I will definitely be smarter in the field when I am done.
Grateful for:
Stephanie, she bought us ice cream and told us congrats on project week. We also have cool sweaters from GA.
My professors for spiraling work yesterday. I finally understood Rspec this time around. Also, the class session had a better rhythm,
Bonnie and Christina, they talk to me all the time about how I am doing.
Christina encouraged me to go to the American Open CEO Women meetup and my team won the competition. I contributed the name Cathie Black. God is so good, what are the odds. I also went late and everything. We are planning to have archery for the participants of the group. I am donating that because I want to and it will be awesome.
Week 1 done
Week one is done and we have accomplished the following (Phil created this for us. It is pretty cool:

It seems like I really did go through a lot of emotions this week. I was on the verge of quitting on Wednesday just because things seem so chaotic and I didn't know what the hell was going on with our instructions/instructors. But everyone is affable and a part of me know that this is it for me. I have a lot ridding on this because my future keeps on going back to technology. The interesting thing is we are going to get there together and if yesterday is an indication of future days then I am happy. The instructors are coming into themselves and we as students are learning more and more about the flow of things.
I still don't get much sleep although Thursday night I had help with my homework -Craig helped me, I didn't send it in. I went to sleep that night for 7 hours. Most nights I sleep for 5 hours. This program is going to push my mind and body because I am also boxing early in the morning before class. Getting up at 4 am to get tot he gym by 6 am to do an hour and a half workout to get to class around 8:30 am. I definitely need to workout because I am sitting all day.
I am worried about paying for the program being that my retirement funds is not being disbursed to me in a timely way. There are so much things to pay for and my business credit card needs to be paid off ASAP. They are making my credit score go down by a lot. I am trying to figure out where do I get $20,000 to pay for everything until my retirement money come through. Everything being the $12,500 for Web Development Immersive program and the business credit card. This situation really sucks. I am going to figure out something because I don't see a future with technology. Also, I might not get accepted next time into this program. You have to take advantage of the opportunity in the opportunity of the lifetime.
September 23rd Immersion program
We meet our cohort this week. I am excited. We meet Friday - September 20th at General Assembly and we meet on Sunday the 22nd to install all the components we will need for our courses. I am trying to finish up the Ruby exercise in Code Academy. The course looks like it might be done quickly but it really isn't - it will take some time. Or maybe it is because I am writing the code down that I see to really understand some of the concepts.
I should have done that one first before I decided to do the Ruby material in Code School. I was having so much trouble on Ruby Bits!!!!! :-( so not cool. Also, Codeacademy has a real cool Q&A forum where you can get help at the last resort.
