“yeah, myself,” violet laughed, leaning against her side when she wrapped an arm around her waist. she figured she should get drunk more often if this is what happened. she just shrugged when she asked if dating a guy would make her happy. somehow, her happiness wasn’t her first priority when it came to her love life – not with the family she’d grown up in. “i’m happy if they’re happy,” she offered, “doesn’t seem like a fair trade, you know? losing my entire family for, like, the chance that i’d end up with a girl. i’d rather play it safe,” she trailed off, dismissing it with a lazy wave of her hand. she couldn’t help but smile at her words, though, just nodding in understanding and following her inside. “i’m flattered,” she teased, tilting her head to the side and glancing around before turning back to her and frowning. “wait – did you even drink anything at the party?”
“That’s what I meant. You’d end up breaking something on yourself,” she clarified as she looked at the other. She honestly didn’t know how much she had to drink, but Hanna was there to make sure that she would end up okay, into bed and hopefully not with any bruises on her come tomorrow morning. Hanna hated that she would have to choose her family to be happy over her own happiness. She understood that it was something people did, but she couldn’t see her being miserable because it wasn’t something she wanted. “I hope you’re right,” Hanna said softly, offering the girl a soft smile. “But what if you were destined to end up with a girl? I just don’t want to see you unhappy.” She was her best friend and the last thing she wanted was for Violet to be with someone she didn’t even want to be with, just to make her family happy. “You should be,” she teased back, guiding her into the house. Hanna placed her keys on the table near the door before heading towards the stairs. “No. I had to make sure that you got back to your house or my house safe.”
