Hello, and welcome back to another year of Femmefest!
We are excited to announce our 11th round, and so excited to have you! Femmefest is an exchange fest dedicated towards the wlw couples (and throuples) of Harry Potter. The minimum word count is only 1000 words (or a finished piece of art of equal quality).
Some housekeeping and news may be found below, including the fest timeline, so please stick around to read it!
Changes to Femmefest
With the increasing decline of Livejournal and Dreamwidth, we realized that we need to start being smarter about where we focus our energies, so as to be able to support the HP femslash community across many different platforms.
The biggest change this year is that we will organize fest sign ups via Google Forms. This is to be more inclusive towards our creators who may not be used to LJ or DW, and who are coming to the fest from Tumblr, for example. However, we recognize that seeing everybody's sign up can be a big part of the excitement of the fest, and sometimes even help to give that final nudge towards signing up, so us mods will try to be active around the two-week sign-up period and copy the relevant parts of sign ups (username and your pairings and prompts) to a document that everyone can see.
In the future, Dreamwidth will be our main platform. We will cross-post to Livejournal, and use Tumblr as an additional advertising channel. Since many of our creators use AO3, during posting time, we will primarily just link to your work on AO3 instead of copying the work to our Dreamwidth (as is already done by many fests). If you do not use AO3, have no fear, because if that is the case, we will still continue to post your complete work to Dreamwidth. :)
We will also no longer ask for pinch hit availability at the time of sign-ups. There will be a separate sign-up for pinch hitters closer to the posting date.
Changes to the Rules
Please review our updated rules HERE.
There is only one major change to the rules. Henceforth, we will only grant extensions up to two weeks, one week at a time. This is non-negotiable, and we hope you keep this in mind when you sign up for the fest. If you do not turn your assignment in by this time period, we will give your assignment to a pinch hitter, and your gift will be given to the community. Please note that after the first week of extensions, we will ask to see at least a draft of your work as proof that you have started.
