I interviewed a group of queer Jewish artists called Lipschtick for the website I work for. These women know themselves and they rule
Me: Being queer in any religion is a difficult proposition. Do you feel like outsiders?
Amanda: “The mainstream Jewish community wants to fit in, and they do, and I don’t feel like I belong to that ... But then I have my chosen families. Like Lipschtick is a chosen family where I think we’re on the same page. I see you in me, you see me in you. And when I think of it that way, I don’t feel like an outsider.”
