members have two options for applying at fences: a question-based interview app, or a series of freestyle pieces based on one-word prompts. the application is located within member’s profiles and can be accessed through your user CP. each application will require five sections (either five questions answered or five one-word prompts). regardless of the type of application you chose, please feel free to complete them as creatively as you’d like!

subplot 002

grimmlock

while girmm is no stranger to potions and elixirs, a new, powerful creation called grimmlock has been sweeping the streets of the city. once available only in liquid form, a new pill for it has emerged from the underground - recognizable by it’s bright apple-red appearance. this new street drug is the latest to be passed around at parties, and as its name suggests, it has an unusual twist meant only for grimm. taking grimmlock not only allows it’s users a strong high, but amplifies the user’s abilities for as long as it’s in their system. strangely, it seems to have the opposite effect on the cursed - eliminating them of their ailments while their high lasts. grimmlock hasn’t existed long enough to know the true ramifications, but it’s highly addictive, and many swear that long time users find their powers dull and unusable without the substance - or alternatively, that their curse grows wildly out of control when sober.

while the drug has spread across the city, the most prominent place it is distributed is at local nightclub the cave of wonders. the basement of the club operates as a lab to create the drug, and the owner handles the distribution and dealing of all the pills.

THE PURISTS AND THE RESCUE AID SOCIETY

a sudden influx of cursed humans and missing persons cases from neighboring cities has led to a growing paranoia throughout the city - many worry that if they aren’t careful, the last threshold of magic in the world - their beloved city - could be wiped away.

in the wake of this fear, a political group called THE PURISTS have risen. mostly made up of politicians and those with grimm blood that spans generations, the purists want to shut down the city’s borders and bar tourists from entering. they believe that non-powered humans threaten the peace of the city, and that allowing them to come and go as they please weakens both the magic and gene pool of grimm.

in spite of the purists efforts, groups like RESCUE AID SOCIETY still exist. a group of private investigators and good samaritans, rescue aid society works to peacefully solve missing persons cases that put grimm in the hot seat - safely returning cursed college students overdue on returning from their spring break, and reuniting families globally. the rescue aid society also works as a ‘welcoming committee’ for newcomers to grimm - every new resident that moves within the city limits is assigned a ‘buddy’ from the group to show them the ropes and slowly help them adjust to the… peculiarities of the town.

GRIMM, CT

TOURIST SEASON: MARCH-NOVEMEBR

MISSING PERSONS CASES: 382 AND CLIMBING

the very survival of the city depends on it’s ‘tourist trap’ reputation. grimm is somewhere in-between vegas and disneyland in the minds of the general population, and all the magic the city holds is often advertised as a gimmick based on the many urban legends that surround it. social media and click bait articles are lousy with blurry pictures ‘revealing’ a flying witch is using a wire and essays ‘debunking’ a street side magic show. these are usually shared between the townspeople and become an inside joke of sorts.

time passes differently than it does outside of the city: one hour in grimm is equal to three outside the city. this leads to many visitors staying longer than they initially planned and feeling a sense of being spirited away - often returning to worried voicemails and stuffed mailboxes.

research suggests that the city itself is actually moving, with it’s longitude and latitude coordinates changing slowly over the years

the city is home to it’s own public education system and college, however education tends to take a back burner and most that were born and raised in the city don’t pursue it. grimm’s economy is incredibly stable thanks to their high tourist traffic - enough to keep families afloat even in the off seasons. the ‘safest’ job in the city to land is at one of the many attractions or shops downtown.

despite it’s allure for tourism, moving to grimm is an entirely different, difficult thing. many outsiders will find themselves leaping through hoops in order to find someone who will sell or rent property to them.

grimm has been the location for several movies and tv shows, as well as inspiring many novels and old wives’ tales - these tend to divide the city between those who are giddy at receiving the attention, and those who are bothered by the glaring misrepresentation of their community.
