You always hear about the tweed #FenderChamp being the best little #amp ever...the studio #guitar player's secret weapon...Eric Clapton/Layla...etc. . I have owned 2 tweed Champs in my life: a 1957 (which you can see over on its new owner's feed, @the_damo_experience) and this 1964 model (which is the same amp, just covered in black tolex instead of tweed), and I had never found either of them sounded particularly good...certainly not at the low volumes I have to play at in my home. . However...the magic of the Champ isn't found at low volumes. The Champ really starts to shine with the volume around 7 or 8. I learned this the day I sold my '57 to Damien. He lives in a detached home where volume doesn't bother the neighbours like it does at my place. So he turned it up to 8 and started noodling, and I immediately thought "crickey, am I making a mistake selling this amp??". The answer was of course "yes" but it was too late and I needed the money 🤣 to pay for my 59 Princeton which sounds better than a Champ at low volumes (even though it is essentially the same circuit and speaker as the 5F1) because #Fender put it in a bigger cabinet. . Anyhoo: I have been able to turn this one up to 8 a lot recently and I love it. While it may not be loud enough to drown out a drummer, it certainly does produce some beautifully Creamy overdrive (no Clapton pun intended 😆)! . . #fenderchamp #stratocaster #strat #fenderstraocaster #guitars #amps #tubeamp #vintageamp #vintagefender #guitarcollection #guitarphotography #ampphotography https://www.instagram.com/p/CDezyZrhwYV/?igshid=136o25ts31zbr
