Attaching the Fretboard to the Neck
I always tape up the sides of the neck and front edge, this way any squeeze out can be cleaned up easier. I tape off the truss rod area, this is just tape that is ¾” wide leaving a small strip over the slot. After spreading the glue, the fretboard is attached and locked in place with the positioning pins.
The caul I use holds everything in place, while focusing pressure towards the edges of the fretboard. Clamps are placed directly in the middle of the caul.
I let this dry overnight, and then pull the clamps and clean up the neck pulling the tape and using a scraper to remove any excess glue.
