Fenghuang, Hunan
Fenghuang County 凤凰县 in Hunan province. Named after the mythological bird Fenghuang (phoenix) it was built in 1704, and has 300 years of history.
Fenghuang has an exceptionally well-preserved ancient town that harbours unique languages, customs, arts as well as many distinctive architectural remains of Ming and Qing styles. The town is placed in a mountain setting, incorporating the natural flow of the river into the city layout.
The ancient town of Fenghuang was added to the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List in 2008, in the Cultural category.
It was the centre of the unsuccessful Miao Rebellion of 1854-73, which created a Miao (Hmong) diaspora in Southeast Asia during the last two centuries. The city is revered in Miao traditions and funeral rites.
If Second Erruption Was a Retro Game pt. 2
It’s been sitting in my gallery for a while now and I’m not planning on finishing it so here it is. I love the moment where Ziggy saves Welt’s life.

Parallels (Sad thoughts)
Timeline 1
Feng Xing only sees the similarities between Mu Qing and Hua Cheng after the final battle with Jun Wu and hates it. But at the same time he finds some comfort in the knowledge, in the safety his presence guarantees and the obsession that once he's allowed to see without aggression turns to be mildly inconvenient at worst.
It's funny because Hua Cheng frets almost as much as Mu Qing, silently and tentatively. Turning into a puddle if Xie Lian offers praise, working hard to ease all discomforts their prince may find.
It hurts because in another life perhaps they could have found a way to exist in the same space, perhaps in another life Crimson Rain didn't have to be an enemy.
Perhaps in another life Feng Xing got to keep Mu Qing and still learned to value Hua Cheng's presence.
Timeline 3
Mu Qing's first impression of Wu Ming is that the other Ghost is young. He lacks experience even if he has the power.
Still thinks too much like a human.
He's stubborn.
And Mu Qing wants to crush him. To take all his anger and pain onto him, because Wu Ming is a shadow of Hong'er (of what he could've been) and it burns.
Later, once he has gotten Xie Lian to surrender and has built protections over the lapidated house he chose to spend the night, he looks at the wrath and laughs.
Bitter, cutting, heartbroken.
Because it's like seeing a young Feng Xing waiting at the door, sword in hand, ready to stand guard.
Mu Qing knows a dog when he sees one. So with a heavy heart, he decided to keep the soldier.
(He can't do this alone. And after what happened at the temple, Mu Qing knows better than to send away a useful tool.)
As time passes, he stops seeing Hong'er –his Hong'er, sweet, devout, and bright– and sees more and more of Feng Xing in Wu Ming.
Loyal, stubborn, mean.
Bending easily to Mu Qing once he realized he was better prepared to take care of Xie Lian.
So he does his best to soften Xie Lian's attitude, while warning the Ghost that he better kept being nothing. No one. Otherwise, Mu Qing will kill him.
Because as much as he got to love Hong'er, Crimson Rain's shadow clawed at him.
Making him testy, willing him to fight. To devour. To ensure the calamity was never born again.
Mu Qing who misses Feng Xing and uses Wu Ming as a replacement because if he doesn't he may shatter and then, where will they be?
Back to the gutters, he's sure.
...
Just two idiots missing each other and choosing Hua Cheng to project their lost soulmate. Because after two hundred years of codependency they can't honestly be functional without the other.
Xie Lian knows nothing of this and deals with his own relationship with Hua Cheng as the best he can.
Hua Cheng just having a straight awful time either way; feeling like he's not enough and will never be.
