"you wish to tear down the veil," ask not why she sought him out ; the answer is one calpernia won't speak. she is not looking to tie herself to the mast of a sinking ship a second time, but there is interest there, keen in her eyes as she looks at the man - god - mage before her. there is a reason calpernia set her own spies to find the one with too many names to count, and here she is with the fruits of such labor laid before her.
"why?" there is no judgement in the question. she's sure he's heard it full to the brim of it before, why would you wish to destroy this world and all spoken with tearful horror. that is fully absent. who else but her would understand a want to tear the world apart and set it right with her own two hands, correcting the wrongs done by those with blackened hearts and dreadful intention. perhaps ... there is some kinship, here. perhaps there is some aid to be seen.

i just realized what solas means when he says he gave no orders. it’s not that the elves across thedas and orlais aren’t following him, it’s not that the elves of the inquisition aren’t spying on his behalf--it’s that he didn’t order them to do so. they chose to organize. he did not ask them to.
it had been a long time since he was last in the fade— almost long enough to forget what it was like. almost. the sensation was deeply uncomfortable each time: uncertain, changeable, ancient, unending. he wasn’t himself in the fade. he was anything it wanted him to be, and that was never by choice. so it was grudgingly and unhappily that he found himself in the lighthouse now, standing on those weathered stone floors like he was in a boat adrift at sea, trying to avoid looking up or down or too far out on either side, anchoring himself to any small amount of space unlikely to tear away and float off at a moment’s notice. perhaps it was his heightened awareness of the fade that made him more attuned to it, or the persistent remnants of a time over two decades ago when he was forced to adapt to the will of the fade or be trapped in it forever. whatever the cause, he caught a glimpse out of the corner of his eye at someone who couldn’t possibly be there and his hands went to the hilts of his sword by instinct and muscle memory alone. ❝ solas? ❞

@fenheral sent: that kind of anger will slowly kill you.
there's a permanent scowl on his face, one that fenris, frankly, doesn't know how to get rid of. how do you get rid of years of torment? of pain? how do you do so when there's a reminder of every single thing you've gone through all over your body? “ that seems easy for you to say, mage. ” he almost spits, brow furrowing as he speaks. “ not all of us get to escape our past by running away to the fade. i get reminded of everything danarius ever did to me when i look down at my hands. tell me, how would you remedy this kind of anger? ”
Kings and kingdoms are nothing if a mere invention created to satiate a need to be bigger than life itself, a need to feel important, a need to feel powerful. It's an idea based on the belief that some individuals are inherently superior to others and therefore deserve to have more authority and power. But the question remains, what is power? It is the ability to influence others to behave in a certain way, to make them do what you want them to do, and to make them believe what you want them to believe.

Indeed, though, any man who must reaffirm their power like that is not made to rule. They're simply a puppet in someone else's hands. "Some people are just lucky enough to be born royalty, even if they can't afford it." She says, eyeing @fenheral with a hint of curioisty, the cogs in her mind turning and turning with every word they both say. "That is not a hard problem to solve." Her next words are quieter, more tentative: not because she doesn't believe in them, but because she doesn't know what he may say back.
Solas has always been a mystery.
"Dynasties and bloodlines are bound to end, sooner or later. If one king is unfit, it's always possible to make another."
