Every year I put on a new attitude about it but by the end of the month I’m always kinda bummed out 😞 just a little discouraging about the art I make because I feel like it wasn’t impressive enough

After the deaths of King Jaehaerys and Queen Alysanne, it was revealed that Gael had been seduced and impregnated by a traveling singer. Gael had given birth to a stillborn son, and overwhelmed by her grief, she had walked into Blackwater Bay and drowned.

I’ve recently started Baldur’s Gate 3, and before when I would see posts/etc. I never got the Lae’zel hype mainly as a romance option I was always like …. Ok… she’s a bit odd looking and abbraive

And yet… almost immediately after I started my first playthrough I was obsessed with… and I think that’s beautiful character growth on my part

obsessed with the Helena and Irving parallel and what it says about the aspects of our identity we think are fundamental (but aren't)...

Like Outie Irving assumes his Innie is just as radically anti-Lumon as he is. He assumes his hatred of Lumon is something ingrained in his personality! That's why he stays up at night drinking coffee and making paintings, because he hopes that when his innie dreams about the testing floor, he'll say "okay bet" and start exploring. That's what Outie Irving would do, after all. But he miscalculated! His hatred of Lumon isn't inherent--- his desire for meaning and art and spirituality is inherent. That's what his hatred for Lumon is built on. But in a world where there's no meaning outside of Lumon propaganda, of COURSE his innie would become ridiculously devoted to the company.

And Helena!! She is the corporation, that's her whole identity. She presumably assumed that Helly would be just as pro-Lumon as she is. But she miscalculated too! Her devotion to the company isn't inherent, her headstrong and entitled nature is what's inherent! And in a world where she's denied any agency whatsoever, that manifests as rebellion.

It's the same dynamic flipped on its head. They both sent their innies in there with opposite intentions--- one to take down the company, one feed the company's expansion--- only to realize that rebellion and devotion aren't inherent characteristics. Their innies have become the exact opposite of their outie selves, while still being exactly the same!! Because even though your personality is inherent, the values you hold are determined circumstantially. OUGH IT'S SO GOOD.

A collection of drawings for my inquisitor Isera Lavellan’s Atlantan Au

(inspirations and rambling below the cut)

So my initial idea came from the idea of vestal virgins in Ancient Rome and I wanted to take that idea.

So Isera was initially a spirit of devotion, and Sylaise saw her as the perfect servant and high priestess as she showed submission and deference to the ‘Goddess’. Isera initially started out as a simple priestess (see the limited Vallaslin) before being promoted after her usefulness became clear.

Isera in Arlathan operates as a hearth tender and takes confessions from the population of Elvhen, and has also taken a vow of silence to ensure that Sylaise’s followers have someone they can trust to carry their secrets, fears, and desires.

But ultimately, a tricky servant of Mythal building his rebellion seeks out Isera and convinces her to turn her devotion away from her mistress and towards their people as a whole. And for the first time in centuries, he hears her speak secrets to help the rebellion. I like to imagine through their secret partnership they fall in love and show one another what love is - not blind following or submission but mutual and caring.

For artists notes - I’m actually very pleased with how Solas turned out I think it bears at least a little resemblance. I’m also pleased with how my little portrait of Sylaise turned out.
