Still on a Pokemon kick, so I felt like drawing my two main characters, Azza and Fen, with partner pokemon I felt would suit them.

Taking a staycation this week, so I decided that I would finally use those blank Pop figures I got for my birthday and make them into my characters, Fen and Azza! I think they turned out pretty good!

My birthday’s coming up in a couple weeks, so I was looking around for stuff to put on my list when I ran into an ad on reddit for a site called Hero Forge. They let you make custom RPG miniatures, and since I’ve been dying to actually play DnD and made up some characters a while back, I was like “let’s take a look,.”

And I was immediately sucked into the Doll Divine rabbit hole, as Hero Forge’s customization program is very much like a character creator in an RPG or MMO.

So as I was fiddling with it, I did start with my actual DnD characters:

My tiefling Barbarian, Azariel.

And my Half-Elf Cleric who hates his life, Fenlamin.

I really like how his expression turned out.

Of course, then the Doll Divine curse struck me and I just ended up screwing around with it to see if I could make Fallout 4 characters. Didn’t work so well for Macready, Danse, or Strong, but I was pretty successful at making:

Piper,

Cait,

And my Sole, Fred.

Then I noticed that there were like “decomposed” options for making undead characters, and I was like nah, there’s no way I could---

Holy shit. Hancock ended up way better than I expected he would! God damn, that’s near perfect. I was even able to pose him with the friendly-gesture-into-stabbing maneuver he does when you first meet him. Frickin’ awesome!!

And of course, now that I figured out that ghouls work well and that the outfit options had a top hat and tux, I of course had to throw Oswald together as well.

Super fun. I’m definitely asking for a gift certificate.

Hey @amtrax! I really like Lokum’s design, so for giggles, I did a quick doodle of her interacting with my DnD cleric character Fen! :-)

I imagine the conversation is something along the lines of:

“All right, why is this a thing?”

“Your guess is as good as mine.”

I got my two Heroforge minis in a couple weeks ago, and I finally found the time to paint them today! :-D The first one is my Tiefling Barbarian, Azariel, and the second one is my Half-Elf Cleric, Fenlamin. 

I think they ended up looking pretty good!

What My Brain Has Been Doing Lately: An Adventure in Rabbit Holes

Me with a DnD Player handbook several weeks ago: Lol, what if I made up a cleric character who has his goddess in his head at all times. He would hate his life and he argues with her all the time because he wanted to be a merchant instead. Ooh, and he could have hair made of wheat and have fruit and herbs constantly growing out of him. That would be funny.

After writing the character sheet: You know, actually it might be pretty interesting if he had like a proper title and was genuinely quite resentful of being forced into this position. He would be tired and kinda bitchy, but still Neutral Good, just reluctant.

Several days ago: Ooh, what if he inherits his title right after the last person with his job dies, and part of why he's chosen is because he accidently passes one tiny test and he is just thrust into this position and is forced to come to terms with it. He tries to leave quietly but ends up being lauded as a folk hero when he really doesn't want to be.

Three days ago in my car: *planning dialogue and arguments, imagining prophetic dreams and relevant theming while driving at 70 mph.*

Today: Okay, I think I finished writing his backstory, maybe I could draw this how long is ohmygodIwrote22pagesofscriptedbackstory.
