Deus Ex! Also Human Revolution.
Deus Ex
never played | want to play | terrible | boring | okay | good | great | a favorite
I started this back earlier this month, before the house’s AC broke and I moved into the guesthouse for the time being, and while I didn’t get terribly far (I got to the start of Hell’s Kitchen), it was very, very good. Big maps even for the tutorial, plenty of secrets and little things, lots of stuff to explore and discover. I’m really looking forward to getting back to it once I get home.

I bought this back around the time it first released (meaning my Steam copy is not the version with the tweaked boss battles, for better or worse), but I never got very far. I wasn’t used to cover shooters at that point in my life, so it was extremely difficult to get a grip on things (I died multiple times in the first tutorial fight, for instance), and it also seemed to play... oddly? Like, it felt like there was framedropping even though it also seemed like it was a constant framerate. It’s hard to describe, and my memories are fuzzy. I got to the first real gameplay segment, wandered around the city a little, and then stopped.
Now that I’m older and have more experience under my belt (ME1 and 2 count as experience with cover shooter mechanics, right?), I’d like to get back to it sometime.
