Did they HAVE any partners before Ginny? Idk why but I feel like they did NOT have the energy to be with anyone before Ginny lmfao
Lmao youre definitely right about the lack of energy.
Fern didnt have any partners before Ginny. They gave flowers to a little girl on a playground, and their parents immediately shut it down. Also because of David being shunned for being gay, Fern felt it might happen to them too if they tried to encourage their parents to understand them and their identity.
Marie, her older brother Steven's wife, and of course Victoria because of her marriage to Percy and Ferns marriage to Ginny, and then Hermione because of her marriage to Harry and Ron. (Golden Polycule Agenda)
As for their favorite... Fern and Hermione dont really interact all that much save for Weasley family gatherings. They're of course nice to eachother, but their bond isn't anything beyond another family member.
The same goes for Marie. They don't see her or Steven around much unless its at family gatherings or they get invited to a Ministry dinner by their father. Marie is a sweet French woman, but she and Fern come from two different worlds.
So all in all Victoria is their favorite. However that position may or may not be shifting depending on if Fern has to add another child into her family portrait.
Fern: Vicky, I love you, and I tolerate your husband, but there is not a canvas big enough to fit another child. So please, for the love of Merlin and my paints, could you please tell your husband to keep it in his pants for five minutes?
Also did you happen to see that Fern angst snippet I posted earlier? I figured you might enjoy that.
Here they are! The final installment of my future OCs! After years of physical therapy for their hands, Fern becomes an artist! More specifically the person that paints the enchanted portraits for Hogwarts and otherwise.
They also don't mind doing the odd commission for friends.
You'd think they'd know the Weasley haircolor by now considering they're married to one.
Even their mothers gentle touch sent pain shooting up their arms. A broken sob left their throat, barely able to flinch away without crying.
"Felicity, what is wrong?!" Their mother begged, taking Fern by the shoulders, nails digging into them almost painfully.
"I DON'T KNOW!" Fern cried, finally meeting their mothers gaze. Tears poured down their face as they heaved, "They were fine a- a second ago! I don't know what's wrong!"
Ferns hands shook violently, muscles spasaming and twitching uncontrollably. They were stuck in the same position they held their wand in, moving so much their fingers nearly looked possessed.
"Open your hands." Their mother said, "Open your hands- I have to see them."
"I can't." Fern choked. Their mother sighed.
"I know it hurts, but I have to look at them-"
"No! I can't do it! I can't-!" Fern sobbed, "I can't... Move my hands..."
Fern angst because they aren't allowed to have a break. I love my ocs I promise.
Descriptions of Ferns parents as well as their siblings!
This post turned out to be much lengthier than I originally thought 😅
Writing below the cut!
Fleur Shoebuckle
Age: 46
Gender: Female
House: Ravenclaw
Hogwarts Attendance: 1961 - 1968
Fleur works in the Ministry Of Magics Records Room. She enjoys working in the dark. Its quiet, and the while room smells like paper. She most likely passed her appreciation of isolation to Fern. Fleur always found people quiet difficult to be around. Very loud, very noisy, and always trying to be some kind of different. She likes straight lines and crisp edges. Especially when they come in the form of a very sharp looking Slytherin boy. The only imbalance she ever seemed to enjoy were her mothers two-toned eyes. One brown, one blue. They were pleasant, warm, a tiny bit of controlled chaos. In her early Hogwarts days, Fleur took a liking to the stars. No matter what she lost in her life, they always came back. Every night. She married her husband when she was twenty-two, took his name, and had her eldest set of twins at 23. Then along came her middle child at 26, and finally Fern at 29. Her mother is Irish, and Fleur can speak Gaelic, bur her fathers genes were so strong that she looks nothing like her red-headed mother. Fleur fears for her husband more with each day that passes by. He is stressed, reserved, and more irritated than before, but Fleur can't seem to pull an answer out of him. She fears the worst, that Voldemort has his hands wrapped around him, but surely that can't be true. But then why else would she have to cut contact with her daughter? All Fleur wants to do is see her little girl and hold her tight while they watch the stars. Is that so much to ask?
Steven Shoebuckle Sr.
Age: 47
Gender: Male
House: Slytherin
Hogwarts Attendance: 1961 - 1968
Steven is the eldest of his two brothers, as such he followed in his father's footsteps and took over his position as an Unspeakable in The Department Of Mysteries. As a student, Steven had a lot of energy and a LOT of creativity. His favorite pastime was to play Quidditch and do paintings with his mothers old supplies. His father quickly disapproved of these frivolous activities, insisting Steven focus on his studies and proving himself worthy enough to follow after him. He did as he was told, regretfully giving up on sports and sealing himself into the library under piles of books. He had friends, but the only times he got to see them was during the practices he could no longer attend. After having his first two children, he began insisting that others address him as "Mr.Shoebuckle" to prevent confusion. During his time as an Unspeakable, the Mystery Dapartment was taken over by Voldemort, putting Steven under immense pressure and intimidation. It even went so far as to directly threaten his youngest daughter, Felicity (aka Fern), if he did not comply. For fear of harm coming to his family, he became cold and distant. He forced his wife and other children to make no contact with Felicity, leaving the painfully desperate letters with no response.
Steven Shoebuckle Jr.
Age: 23
Gender: Male
House: Ravenclaw
Hogwarts Attendance: 1983 - 1990
Steven was the first of the twins to be born. He was a quiet kid, so much so that he startled house elves by accident. He ever cried much, didn't cause a ruckus, just kept to himself and did as he was told. He wasn't cold by any means. Just more reserved. He very much appreciates a quiet corner to work in. The smell of books and the warmth of a fireplace are his favorite things. He has fond memories of his mother reading stories to him in the study before bed. Though he is much closer to his father than anything. The eldest son must strive for perfection, so that is exactly what he did. In Hogwarts, he regularly competed with his twin sister when it came to grades and test scores. Both of them were exceptionally smart, but Steven always strove to be just a little bit better than her. High marks earned high praises from his father, and who doesn't enjoy a good "atta boy"? After Hogwarts, he began an internship at the Ministry, where he met his now wife, Marie, and married her when he was 22 years old. They don't have any children yet, but are planning once the family grows less troubled. He doesn't know whats going on with his father, but being cut off from his youngest sibling has Steven growing more concerned by the day. Letters he cannot respond to sit in a drawer at his desk. The first time Marie saw him cry (other than their wedding day) was reading Ferns desperate pleas for him to do something with his position at the Ministry.
Eliza Shoebuckle
Age: 23
Gender: Female
House: Gryffindor
Hogwarts Attendance: 1983 - 1990
Unlike her twin brother, Eliza came out screaming. It was like all of Steven's energy transferred into her the day they were born. She has wit, she has sass, and she isn't afraid to speak her mind. This of course frequently got her into trouble with her parents. Thankfully, she found somewhere to put that energy towards: her rivalry with her brother, Steven. They competed endlessly for the top spot. Highest score on a test, most praise from teachers in a day, heck even the first to get to class. Eliza soon realized that Steven was already well on his way into their father's good graces, so she turned her sights onto her mother instead. Her mother had been fawning for months over Eliza getting married as soon as possible after she graduated. A nice girl like her needed a steady, good looking man. But all the boys she was set up with turned out to just be pompous jerks. That was until she met a young man in her 8th year at Hogwarts. Finn was his name. She was in Herbology, and they had gotten partnered up together to care for a baby mandrake. He was sweet, but not sickeningly so, he was smart but never tried to show her up, and he had his sights on his own business in South London when he got older. He knew exactly what he wanted, and was determined to get there, but not right away. He took life slowly, and thats what Eliza fell for. When she announced their relationship to her parents, they were reluctant to accept, only agreeing to allow them to stay together if Eliza took a job at the Ministry as a backup. She agreed. After Elizas job was secured, Finn proposed, and she eagerly accepted. They plan to marry in the Spring, hoping by that time the whispers of war would be over. Eliza has found many letters sent to her home, a few of them discovered by Finn, most of them addressed from Hogwarts from her little sister. Eliza craves to do something, to say anything to help them, but under strict demand from her father, she fears she may never speak to her sister again.
David Shoebuckle
Age: 20
Gender: Male
House: Gryffindor
Hogwarts Attendance: 1986 - 1993
David is the last born son of the Shoebuckle Family. David was also the first child to come out looking like his father. The warm brown hair, his bright eyes, he even inherited his father's love of Quidditch. During his third year, his younger sister Felicity began at Hogwarts, as well as the more notable boy who lived, but despite his fame, David couldn't have cared less about Harry's appearance. He was most definitely intrigued, but David was much more worried about helping his shy, anxious little sister navigate the intimidating school. David was the one Fern connected with the most. Fern felt comfortable around him, and searched for him in the Great Hall, always trying to get a seat that was closest to his without mingling tables. Since Eliza and Steven were always busy sucking up to mom and dad, David became Ferns guide. He helped them find easy paths to classes, private areas to study in when they felt overwhelmed, and did the best he could to help Fern creep out of their shell. David didnt get along well with his parents. When he did, it was just to appease others in public or during Ministry Gatherings. David wanted freedom, he wanted the arts and music. He wanted to be everything his parents were against, which also included who to date. He tried to click with other girls, but nothing ever came about. It was always the other boys that really made him feel something. He wasn't a weirdo by any means, he truly did love playing Quidditch for the sport, but being around other cute guys all the time was just a plus. After being discovered on a less than friendly outing with another boy, David was scolded heavily by his parents. They had a huge fight in their home, with little Fern watching from around a dim corner. They were good at hiding. The next morning, David was gone. Every time Fern asked where he went, their parents didn't answer. Just dismissed them and walked away. It was like they wanted to pretend David didn't exist. Fern began to shut down at school, to huddle into small corners and become a ghost in the halls. Though it's not like any family were around to be concerned. David moved to Ireland and settled down in a flat of his own, working in the city and keeping to himself. Though he doesn't speak to his family, he still wonders how his little Fern is doing.
A Letter Written By Fern To Their Parents During Their 7th Year
Genre: Angst
Warnings!: Mild mention of child harm
(Note: Their seventh year is the same as Harry's.)
As always, writing below the cut!
Dear Mum and Dad,
This school has become a prison. Yet no matter how much I write, to you or my siblings, nothing is being done. Why must I stay here when war is being threatened? Have I done something wrong? I understand that your are angry with me, with who I am now, but please, I beg, let me come home. I'll be your little girl again. I'll take the stupid internship with Eliza at the Ministry. I'll stop correcting people when they call me Felicity. I'll wear dresses, and makeup, and comb out my hair. I'll even speak to the Malfoys at gatherings. Please. I am not sure how much more I can take.
If I can't come home, at least send someone to inspect the school. They are cursing students in class. I have watched them crumble to the ground in pain because they asked to use the facilities. Someone has to know. Someone must see what this place has become. Nobody will listen to us! Nobody will hear the tears we shed every night, the way our hands shake when we write. Everybody keeps looking the other way, because the only ones brave enough to complain are the children.
Every day I feel my mind crumbling. Maybe that's what they want; to break us. To force us to bend in ways we can't until we get used to the pain. I don't want to come home broken. That's why you sent David away, isn't it? Because he was broken? Will you send me away if I end up like him? Please don't. I've already promised to change. If I promise not to break too, will you listen? If I promise to be perfect, will you let me come home?
