ANNAEL HUDSON / 34 (APPEARING 27) YEARS OLD / CASCADE SECURITY / FERNCOMBE
Annael “Annie” Leila Hudson
Annael lives in a house in Ferncombe with her twin, Gabriel.
BIOGRAPHY: (tw: trigger, trigger)
Annael and Gabriel were born twenty minutes apart, on the first Sunday in April- daylight savings. Gabriel was born first, just before three in the morning, and Annael, about twenty minutes after him. This resulted in Annie being born right after two in the morning, causing her to be older on their birth certificates, but Gabriel older in birthing order. Their parents, second generation Mataku, considered this an omen- but weren’t sure if this was a good thing, or a bad thing.
Annie and Gabe often used it to their advantage, thinking themselves that much more special than anyone else. They were both older, and they were both younger. They were inseparable. They stayed the same height for ages, and even kept their hair the same. Wearing the same clothes, they looked identical. Annie continued to cut and curl her hair well into adulthood so that it would be the same as Gabriel’s. Eventually she gave up, letting it grow out.
Growing up, their parents worried their need to be together always would effect them negatively, stunting their growth socially. They weren’t wrong. Annael had no interest in making friendships or relationships. No one mattered like her brother. No one understood her like him, either. When she’d get in a fight, and get decked, Gabe would feel it. When Gabe would nervously chew on his thumb till the skin cracked, you could see Annie cursing and checking her thumb over. The two even had cryptophasia, or twin speak.
Annie always wanted to be stronger. She wanted more magic, more strength. She wanted to control all the elements, to be able to do anything a witch could. Gabriel was much more light, but still dabbled in the spells he saw his sister do. They both became Grey Mataku- Annie leaning towards Black, and Gabe White, balancing each other out.
Eventually, Annael started to wonder what else she could use her powers for. She joined the NZ Military, much to Gabriel’s dismay. Annael never imagined she would get stationed outside of their home in Otago, but she did. The entire time was living hell to her, being away from her twin. It was also hell on her mind. Being away from her light, her white, her balance, caused the darkness to seep into her mind more. Mentally, she began to become unstable.
It was only a span of less than six months away from home when her commander began to wonder if she was losing it. He assumed she could handle the stress, and Annie was discharged from the military, being sent home. She fell back into Cryptophasia, and often only speaking in it, and only to Gabe. She spent months in recovery, practicing only light magic, and spending time only with her brother.
Finally beginning to venture out from the safety of her little home with her twin. Annael still struggles with the darkness, having psychotic fits from time to time. She’s begun to have twitching ticks and nervous hand movements. She’s paranoid most of the time, and talks to herself. When she does, she babbles inconsistently. She’s a lot better than she once was, but the darkness is still in the back of her mind. She’s battling inside herself constantly, and according to her family, is making great headway back to the light.
Annael is a both firey and apathetic at the same time. She is is fierce protective of her brother, and those who curiously find themselves closer to her, but to almost anything else in life- she doesn’t care. Unlike her magic affliction- everything in the world is very black and white for Annie. I’ll fight to death for you, or I won’t. I love you or I don’t. When something appears to not be as black and white as she previously thought, Annie becomes extremely anxious. Her anxiety is obvious. She begins to mimic her brother, chewing on her thumb, her babbles inconsistently.
