Kelpie - Closely related to the nix(ie)s, kelpies dwell in freshwater lakes and pools. In their human forms they have straight, dark hair, clammy grayish skin and shining eyes. When transformed, they appear as horses with shining, dark, solid coats, significantly more beautiful than the average horse. Their manes are often tangled with weeds and they are always cold and wet, no matter their environment. Kelpies have attractive abilities that are especially effective against younger individuals, to lure prey to the water's edge. They are shockingly good swimmers as horses, and when touched they can stick the person or creature that touched them to themselves like they are made of glue. This allows the kelpies to drag them down into the water and drown them with little resistance. Furthermore, as horses they can lengthen their back to accommodate more riders so they can drag down more victims at once. The only way to escape the glue-like abilities of a kelpie is to cut off the limb that is attached, otherwise the kelpie must choose to let you go. Typically they consume their prey beneath the water but leave the entrails, tossing them up onto the bank of the body of water like some sort of morbid lure to pique the curiosity of passersby and get them to come closer to the water. Instead of neighing like horses, kelpies scream like humans in their horse form.
