IT WASN’T THAT enjolras couldn’t take care of himself, it was more that he had                              never properly been taught to. growing up a privileged                                          childhood, he never had to do his own laundry, clean his own                                house or cook his own food. it had EASY to pick up some of                                  the tasks, others were supplemented with google searches-                                  but cooking still mostly evaded him.

toast he could manage, pasta if he was feeling particularly brave, but the one                                  extravagance he let himself indulge in was take-out or                                          premade food most days. there were days, though, when he                                wanted to do something a bit MORE. when it was just him and                              COMBEFERRE, eating pizza or chinese take out seemed a                                  bit ridiculous- and a waste of a refrigerator full of food.   

                            ❝ do you think we should make the chicken? i think it’s been in                                                                        there for a while.  ❞

     it’d been a nasty tumble off the climbing frame, a bend of her      arm in just the wrong direction and then the cries of pain began.      she doesn’t remember much of the rush to the hospital, or the      fact the break required surgery -- but here she is, arm in plaster      and healing, awake at last.

          gaze finds her mother first, sat at her bedside, and the two speak softly           to one another until posy’s doctor arrives. she’s tired, and wanting to           go home so forgive her if she gets a little sulky, but the fact she has a           cast is pretty cool !

“ what ?  why not ?  am i talking too much ? i am, aren’t i.  i’m sorry. usually all i drink is apple juice and sometimes  a cup of coffee on night shifts. i never have this much.  i feel so alive. feuilly, if i run a marathon, will you do it   with me ?  that would be so much fun. we could get all  of the amis in on it. we could make matching t-shirts  and everything. oh my god. we have to start right now. “

      “Combeferre,” he said, “you’re going to give yourself a         heart attack. Sit down.” He shook his head at the student.         Unbelievable. This was their guide on caffeine. Lord help         them. He put a hand on Combeferre’s shoulder and nudged         him towards a chair. "Talk to me about a marathon after         you crash. Because you are going to. HARD.”
