I'm glad we're Poor.
If I weren't poor, I would have experienced riding those fancy cars and doing expensive hobbies. If I weren't poor, I might have gotten all I wanted when I wanted and where I wanted it. If I weren't poor, I might have socialized with nobody but the richest and most influential people. If I weren't poor, I would have lived a luxurious life. But because we're poor, I haven't had the chance to experience those. Because we're poor, we had been banished from the house we live in. Because we're poor I had to work as early as seventeen to meet my family's needs. Because we're poor I had to drop out of school to earn a living. Because we're poor, I had to depend on my talent and knowledge to make both ends meet. Because we're poor, we have to live day by day and could not think of the future anymore. Because we're poor, my friends are the poorest in the society. Because we're poor, we only live in a shanty. Thanks for being poor, I experienced hardship in life and became strong. Thanks for being poor, I saw the goodness of some people when they let us in their house with warm welcome. Thanks for being poor, I learned about life's tricks early on. Thanks for being poor, I learned that college diploma isn't everything. Thanks for being poor, my talent and skills improved even more. Thanks for being poor, I learned to love and live everyday of my life to its fullest. Thanks for being poor, I realized that while my friends are the poorest, they're also the most honest, most loyal and most dependable friends everyone would die for. Thanks for being poor, the shanty I live in is filled with laughter and love. I was once a poor man. However, after I realized all these, it dawned on me that I am not poor after all. I am one of world's richest people. Not with money or treasure nor with luxurious gadgets and cars. It is something far more than that. It is something immeasurable and unexplainable. It is something about experience, happiness and memories one may keep. It is something that one can only understand if he had been poor himself. Now I realized. I'm glad we were poor. --Renzie Fersan
