Why McGucket HAS To Be The Author
The laptop is 'property of F'
There is no GF character with a last name starting with F
There are two characters with a first name starting with F
Fertilia, that random pioneer woman
And Fiddleford McGucket.
The author of the books is very explicitely a man, as the shapeshifter says 'that six fingered nerd hasn't been himself in 30 years'. And Fertilia has normal, not six fingered hands. That and she's from pioneer times.
Unless they write in a completely new character, which I doubt they would do, it has to be McGucket.
