Art Works Seminar 2 - Monday 21 September 2013
The MA Festive Arts Programme at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance will hold the second Art Works Seminar on Monday 21st October, from 5.30 - 7pm. The seminar will be held in the Tower Theatre and is free to all.
Guest speaker: Fiona Byrne
Fiona Byrne graduated from the National College of Art and Design in 2009. Byrne's background is as a practicing artist specialising in glass. Since graduation she has become increasing interested how cultural institutions interact with their audiences. She has recently completed the MA in Cultural Policy and Arts Management at UCD. Her dissertation focused on current practices in audience evaluation in Ireland; how this forms a picture of our audiences and what is being missed out from this picture.
Her talk will give an overview of practices in arts evaluation, looking at models of engagement, instrumentalisation of the arts and limitations of evaluation. She will talk briefly about why evaluation has become increasingly important and the need for rapid development of this sector of the arts. She will present the findings from her investigation into evaluation of arts audiences in Ireland discussing the implications of these findings for further research in this area.
