These eye-catching and delicious Poinsettia Platter Cookies will delight your guests. These buttery cookies, shaped into festive poinsettia flowers, are ideal for holiday gatherings or any special occasion.
Ingredients: 1 cup 2 sticks unsalted butter, softened. 1 cup granulated sugar. 1 large egg. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour. 1/2 teaspoon salt. Red food coloring. Green food coloring. White pearl sugar or sprinkles.
Instructions: Melt the butter and mix it with the sugar in a large bowl until the mixture is smooth. Mix the egg and vanilla extract into the flour mixture and beat it well. Add the all-purpose flour and salt to the wet ingredients slowly while mixing them together. Do this until a dough forms. Split the dough into three equal pieces. Do not change the color of any part. Color one part red with food coloring and the other part green with food coloring. Start by heating the oven to 350F 175C. Roll out a small piece of each color of dough into a thin rope. Place the three ropes next to each other and gently press them together. To make a striped rope pattern, twist the three ropes together. Then, use the dough to make loops on the rope to make a poinsettia flower. Put the poinsettia cookies on a baking sheet that has parchment paper on it. After the oven is hot, bake the cookies for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges are just beginning to turn golden. As soon as you take the cookies out of the oven, put white pearl sugar or sprinkles in the middle of each poinsettia to make it look like a flower's stamen. For a few minutes, let the cookies cool on the baking sheet. Then, move them to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy these Easy Poinsettia Platter Cookies with your family and friends!
