The SugarScape Interviews actually gave us so much.
Zayn: Why can't I stop? Why can't I stop feeling like the butterflies in my stomach is only getting stronger each day, trying to open my ribcage to fly to Liam? Why can't I stop being attached to him like this when in reality he's never been mine?I'd die for him if he asks me to and I'd never regret even one second for it. Why can't he see what he means to me? 😔
Liam: Zayn and I are more than friends! We are besties. 😁
in case anyone needed some cute reminders for reasons to believe...

Here to Help
With Louis’ help, Liam finally gets up the nerve to ask Zayn on a second date. [Chapter Twelve of So Take Me to the Paradise in Your Eyes, a Fetus Uni AU]
(one) (two) (three) (four) (five) (six) (seven) (eight) (nine) (ten) (eleven) [read it on ao3]
Ignoring his phone turns out to be easier than he thought. Liam purposefully leaves it on his desk when he goes to class, not allowing himself to come back for it on his lunch break. Instead, he stays in the lunch hall and stares at the wall as he tries to avoid thinking about Zayn.
When he finally trudges home after a long day of classes, Louis pounces immediately. “Are you so busy with your new boy toy that you’re ignoring me now?” He yells out as Liam just so much as opens the front door.
“No,” Liam shrugs, peeking around the corner of the kitchen to see Louis drowning in homework, spewed all over the table like a volcanic explosion of paper.
“Didn’t take it with me today.”
Louis’ eyes form into slits as he analyzes Liam. Seemingly able to read way too much into him within just a couple of seconds, he just nods slowly--no wonder Liam had hated Louis at first. “Why?” He sounds almost suspicious, trying to read between the lines.
Liam gulps. “Dunno,” he attempts weakly, pushing against the wall he’d been leaning against as he tries to run away.
“No, no, no. Liam James Payne,” Louis scolds, stopping Liam in his tracks. “You haven’t talked to him again yet, have you?”
Liam clears his throat just slightly, feeling it dry up quickly. “Not yet,” he sighs. “But I will,” he adds quickly to placate Louis.
Staring him down for a moment, Louis pushes his chair back to stand up. “You want to see this lad again, right?” he asks gently, taking a step closer to pat Liam gently on the shoulder.
“Yeah,” Liam almost whispers, feeling quite silly for the way the word leaves his mouth.
“Well, then,” Louis replies. “Be right back.”
Shuffling into the next room, he grabs Liam’s phone off of the desk. He hands it back to him in a surprisingly smooth motion, not attempting to keep it out of his grasp or anything. “Let’s write out your message to him now, practice a bit.” He ruffles up Liam’s hair as Liam takes the phone from him. “Then, tomorrow, you’ll have nothing to worry about when you send it to him, okay?”
Liam doesn’t respond, can’t find it in himself to do so. Offering a small nod, he just stares at the floor beneath his feet.
“You’re doing ace, Li,” Louis smiles, gesturing him back to the tabletop, still full to capacity with papers. “Now, come on, before I grow a beard and start to turn grey.”
They work on the message for a solid thirty minutes, Liam hemming and hawing over every single detail. He’s still not quite sure where he’s going to take Zayn, but he doesn’t mention this to Louis, making up a place to get him off his chest.
Harry is me!!!
