     it's  not  that  he  hates  being  on  statement - taking  duty ,  it's  just  that  he  could  be  doing  anything  else .  things  that  aren't  his  job .  (  what's  elias  gonna  do ,  fire  him ?  hah .  )  but ,  of  course ,  it's  his  turn .  so  here  he  is ,  ready  to  hand  over  the  pen  and  paper  if  she  chooses .  (  and ,  if  she  doesn't ,  well  ---  he's  never  lacking  a  handy  tape  recorder .  )  ezra  clears  his  throat  and  gestures  with  the  paper .    ❝  if  you  wanna  write  down  what  happened  that's  fine ,  but  i  can  also  take  a  statement  directly  from  you .  if  you'd  prefer .  i  don't  care  either  way .  ❞    a  wave  of  nausea  ---  he  cares .    ❝  i  mean ,  it  might  be  easier  for  you  to  say  it  out  loud .  lotta  people  think  that  helps .  ❞

the rest of the guardians were down, down but not dead, usagi was sure of it. she’d make sure of it. she’d never let anything happen to her friends. reaching over she gripped her staff hard, she glanced over at haruka. they were the only two left standing, “it’s you and me now.” she said to her last remaining soldier. and she wouldn’t let anything happen to her either. usagi got to her feet, spinning the spiral heart moon rod in her fingers as she prepared to attack again, and again. until the enemy fell, or she did.

running out of wine wasn’t a nightmare. running out of wine was a fixable problem. “i think your definition of nightmare might be a little off there,” she said. “a nightmare is ... one of the greater dead have found their way to the world. a nightmare is a necromancer is carving his way across city after city, and ... i thought you were an ale person anyways?”
