save you, save me

It had been a routine of a couple of weeks now, going past the same spot, petting the same stray cat, opening a can of cat food and watching it happily munch it down. At first he had taken notice of it because of its size, easily recognising it as a maine coon (there wasn’t a witch with pride in himself who didn’t know his cat breeds, so Youngjo believed) and after a few pets and cuddles they had parted way. Until the very next day when Youngjo had walked down the same route and seen it again.
By now it had almost become a nice part of daily routine to meet up with his little furry friend and make sure it didn’t die of starvation, but he couldn’t help but wonder. “Who threw someone like you away?” he had mused out loud one day during this special petting time. He couldn’t really suggest that maine coons were typical in the stray picture which suggested that some owner had got tired of his pet and left it to fend for itself. God some people were infuriating. “We’re a bit alike you and me,” he had confided in his unresponsive friend, “I don’t really fit in either.”
Honestly it was kind of silly of him to be sitting here on the street talking to a random cat who didn’t even understand human words, but somehow it seemed as though it still understood his sentiment. It was probably just Youngjo putting too much thought into it though, but it still made him spout the words that would be changing his life. “What if I brought you back home with me? Would you like that?” A pat on the head later he had decided that would be absolutely what he was going to do, and carefully he picked up the large creature and placed it upon his chest and shoulder, one arm supporting the legs and the other petting its back. It felt a bit awkward to walk through the city bearing a massive cat, but he somehow managed, and opening the door to his apartment he let the creature down. “It’s not much, but I suppose it’s home. I hope you like it.”
