kijung could say he hates fighting, but it would be a lie. he likes it. he likes the losing the necessity of composure-- likes throwing poise to the wayside, indulging in his own anger, repressed across centuries outside of periodical explosions. now, he gets more of them; it keeps him levelheaded throughout the rest of his life, ultimately a benefit to him no matter what anyone says. that’s how he sees it, anyway.
he hates watching fights. he hates bullies, and witnessing a beating, especially when it’s no contest, and cruelty overwhelms someone that doesn’t deserve it. there are so many tormentors in this school, so he sees it too often. he’s young in appearance, but old in experience, both fighting and otherwise. more than that, he’s strong. he has more power in his pinky finger than any of these kids, and he knows it, so he puts it to good use (in moderation.) he gives them all a taste of their own medicine.
this time, oddly, the one ganged up on is a werewolf. he just takes it laying down, and kijung finds it most peculiar. why, when he could crush them, does he not fight back. “hey!” kijung shouts regardless, from down the hallway, right after one of the bullies throws a punch and hits what kijung can only assume is the innocent party. from his observations, the ones in the wrong never back down in a fight.
“leave him alone!” they don’t listen, instead, turning to kijung with laughter. what are you going to do about it? did you get lost on your way to middle school? kijung is never one to waste much time, so he punches the one running his mouth square in the face. it disorients his opponent, clearly taken off guard by kijung’s willingness to back up his bark with some bite (though he isn’t the wolf, so maybe the analogy isn’t appropriate.)
whatever, the head of the bullies decides. you’re going to regret this, he vows as he and his followers walk away, and kijung simply rolls his eyes, far from scared. he turns to their victim then, frowning as he surveys the damage. “you should get some ice.”
