Huh. I have all the dresses, but even the most recent play log is showing I’m missing some. Has that happened to anyone else?
Johnny’s just a tits out kinda man.
I love the scene in the playground for so many reasons, but my top two right now have to be
- The way Cloud shifts when Aerith starts talking about Zack. “You were the same rank [...] as the first man I ever loved.” Cloud changes his posture to open up more towards Aerith, offering, “What was his name? I probably knew him.” This is the moment Cloud realises there’s more emotional depth to Aerith than just the optimistic flower girl. This is the moment, like on the water tower with Tifa, where Cloud really hears what she is saying.
- This is a vulnerable moment for Aerith. I think up until now, we may have taken her feelings for granted. I certainly have, thinking about this moment more from Cloud’s point of view than hers, even when she is the one sharing something. I think I’m the one that needs to take Marle’s advice. She teases Cloud, pushes him to do better, doesn’t back down at his standoffishness, and reacts to him with empathy and understanding. She sees him as his own person, of course she does, but - she finds herself thinking of Zack the closer they get to the playground, and perhaps in the church too. She acknowledges that Zack and Cloud are two different people, despite the parts of Zack she sees in him (the eyes, the sword, the.. falling through the roof of her church). I think this is the moment she starts thinking of him as ‘Cloud’, unclouded by the memory of Zack. “Gotta look forward, not back.”
It just breaks my heart that Cloud can’t give her the validation she needs, because his headache strikes before he can respond. (Convenient. Almost as if Sephiroth doesn’t want them talking about Zack....)
“I will transform you into a vision of beauty!”
Please Andrea, Cloud’s already a beauty. Have you see his face?
“Skip the practice session?”
Ladies, this is not my first time.
Here we go again. The Hell House. I thought I was done with this shack.
The fact that Aerith jokes that Cloud was a crane operator in a previous life only adds to my headcanon that Cloud worked with the weapons detail whilst he was a Shinra trooper. I can easily imagine him as one of these officers running about Mako Reactor 5, prepping the Airbuster for deployment.
