John Thompsons, one of the main characters in my spec fic project, having a ride near his hometown. it's common for those in his religious sect to use the remains of sabre toothed cats for decoration in their homes and on their persons as these animals have religious significance for them, so he's had had a pair of teeth filed down and mounted as part of his helmet. I don't think he killed the animal himself since he's kind of a coward and spends the majority of his time writing pamphlets and lying about how well he knows the leader of the parliamentarians in the war the story centres on but whatever
New TikTok series: Fake Facts About Shakespeare!
Was Hamlet named after William Shakespeare’s son, Hamnet? No. No he wasn’t.
Rare fantasy post from this blog with some tentative maps of a conworld I’ve been working on on and off, which centres on the burning question I’m sure we all have “what if the wars of the three kingdoms happened during the last ice age.” first map a WIP contemporary map of the world with a few of the countries in place, I know there’s going to be more but I need to research climate conditions during the african humid period more before I put anything else in concretely. second map is more of an ‘ancient’ map of the world, 2 - 3 thousand years before the story takes place, which is important because it explains why certain contemporary countries have real or imagined territorial claims on one another
Histfic writer trying to write spec fic: I can’t write this until I do several months of READING!!
Whatever. I thinkkkk the country in my world roughly equivalent in its relationship to the ireland and spain equivalents to france is almost completely covered in glacial ice and so its people are semi-nomadic. also I think I want their geographic equivalent of africa (which I need to do more research on before I can concretely place any civilisations there because of what I'm about to say) to be in the equivalent of the african humid period when it was raining in north africa. like all the time. so the climate would have been maybe a little closer to modern se asia? gary I need books about the history of the earth's climate
Working on my spec fic project again. someone come kill me
