ffiv - the holy dragoon armor would be marginally more acceptable if it still hid kain's eyes. dragoons are supposed to be good at pretending to be Mysterious and Brooding even after they've gone to moon dad therapy. i do not make the rules

fic updates

chapter 8 is coming along nicely, but i stopped to edit chapters 1 and 2 so that i could revisit past ideas and really focus on sharpening some narrative & thematic threads between chapters

chapter 1 saw some dialogue cut up and altered, which changes the implications of some things, though the events of the story are relatively unchanged

chapter 2 got a whole new scene along with some edits in dialogue and just general paring down of paragraphs to enhance flow

There's a bunch of reasons Final Fantasy IV: The After Years is meh but a big one is how it narrowly avoided the funniest thing possible in the setting: Dark Kain bursting into the Baron throne room, finding out Cecil is obviously brainwashed, and throwing his spear to the ground in a huff saying "well now that you're evil killing you won't be as fun anymore" >:[

This was done so Ceodore and the Hooded Man could dramatically catch up to Dark Kain at the last possible second but this ends up putting Kain's climactic redemption mirror-image battle in the fucking hallway

i love porom, and for that reason i would super want to see a porom-redesign or a new design for porom. like, if she decided she wanted to wear a dress, what would her hair look like? if she’s been dying her hair all this time, could she have brown hair again, and look more like palom, but with some modified white mage robe instead? what if she wore her hair up, in a messy bun? what if she decided she wanted to wear a pair of red, star earrings like jerrica jem benton?

the possibilities are endless
