this didn’t fit in my last post but I have to add that this isn’t even just about character generator crafted player character/OCs in games. Tali is canonically the tallest female squad member in Mass Effect, she’s actually something like 6 ft tall, but you would absolutely never know it from years of fanart. She is uniformly portrayed as tiny compared to Shepard or Garrus or whoever she’s being shipped with. hell I know there will be people who just read this and are  like “Tali is what” which really just proves my point

it’s because she’s seen as cute and adorable. cute is incompatible with height in women, according to fandom.
