ok thoughts i am having today:

it would be really interesting to me if flim and flam had at some point attended celestia’s school for gifted unicorns

we can clearly see that they do have some significant magical ability in their powering of the super speedy cider squeezy 6000, and i’m personally inclined to believe that they use a lot of magic in their performances to *enhance* them

however im not saying they completed an education there nonononono they absolutely either dropped out or were expelled...

but with the school potentially being a boarding school (inferred from sunburst being “sent away” to canterlot), that leaves them with a lot less adult supervision and therefore a lot more opportunities to get into trouble!

and also boarding school syndrome

I wonder who these friends were? How did they react to the departure / expulsion of the twins from Canterlot? Did they not care, or were they trying to figure out the reason? And if Flim and Flam were expelled from school, for what reason? (sorry for bad English, I don't know him well)

okay well!!! i’m still working everything out! i’ve got 458731420793482 ideas right now but i’ll do my best to answer this

the friends they did have were initially just friends with flim, but since flam tends to be wherever flim is, they eventually adopted them into their little group!

there were two ponies who were friends with the twins, one of them was comet tail! the other one has not yet been decided, i’m currently looking through lists of background ponies to find one lol

everyone knows how they got expelled. everyone witnessed it. i’ll be expanding on this more later but to put it simply, magical duel at the school dance. they weren’t the only ones who were expelled

flam did not keep in touch which did really hurt comet tail’s feelings, the other friend didn’t mind as much, they expected it would happen. they both did their best to stay in contact with flim, but eventually they too stopped talking

i’m actively working on this like i have a hole story starting to form in my little brain i might either write a fic or do a little webcomic or smth

HOO I love the idea they went the the school for gifted unicorns! How do you think they responded to the kids in Canterlot? Like did they immediately peg them as stuck up and not try to make friends, did they canterlot kids look down on them, or hell did they make friends like normal kids? Also I love the idea that they got expelled because they would absolutely do something legendary to get thrown out

i think it depends from brother to brother! the reason for that being bc they reacted to being “sent away” a lot differently

flam was hurt in a way, they hadn’t been the best of kids for their mother and he saw the school as a way to get them out of her mane. he loves his mom ofc and understands raising two whole bastards on her own isn’t easy but it still really messed with him and going into the school was an unwelcome adventure

flam’s going into this with a negative attitude, and thus sees the canterlot ponies as stuck up and feels as though they’re looking down on him, even if it’s not true! he develops an “us vs them” mentality and spends most of his time with his brother, not going out of his way to make friends with any of the other foals

FLIM on the other hand was more excited! he’d read stories about foals having fun adventures in boarding school so he was actually looking forward to it! he also felt that some of the ponies were looking down on him, but he did manage to obtain a small group of friends that ended up also kinda being flam’s friends as well

of course they’re still flim and flam though, always getting into trouble and doing their best to just have a little bit of fun! flam’s just having an edgy phase
