Flim and Flam in my Exileverse MLP AU! These guys ended up being much more important to the storyline than I originally intended…
Twins Flim and Flam (born as Snake Oil and Oil Slick, respectively) are well-known throughout Equestria as entrepreneurs. They are heralded as the fathers of the Cross-Equestrian Railway, having created the first magically-powered train.
None but the twins are alive to know that they stole the entire idea from their younger sister, who they accused of magical heresy and was exiled to a faraway outpost.
In their pursuit of greed, the twins began hunting for a more finite and therefore more precious resource to power their railway. Finally, after a meeting with the equally-enterprising Starlight Glimmer, she pointed them in the right direction: oil. It would make them very, very rich.
They found the biggest oil deposit they’d ever seen right under Sweet Apple Acres in Ponyville. They cajoled and threatened the owners, Pear Butter and Bright Mac, but they insisted it was their home, and therefore not for sale.
Flim and Flam, who had never been told no, were not pleased. But they had a scapegoat ready to punish the young couple for denying them: their exiled sister, who had been peacefully living her life in Ponyville. Flim and Flam set the entire farm ablaze with their magic, and when the smoke cleared, hooves were pointed at their ‘criminal lunatic’ sister, who had surely never given up her heretic ways. She was executed, and the Flim Flam Brothers got off scott free to find other, easier places to pillage for oil.
When the Storm King is freed, the greed and influence of Flim and Flam is just the thing he needs to retake Equestria.
So there they are—the real killers of AJ’s parents!!! ;) but the real villain is….CAPITALISM!!!
