Some cultural notes on hair, and general apperances for my own FFXV world building needs. Based off my observations in game, my own research, and headcannons.
Galahd
Places a huge cultural significance on hair. The braids people wear usually are there to signify something. Usually the wearer's relationships with people. For example Nyx's braids represent his connections to his dead mother and sister. Libertus' braid which loops into itself is his way of representing found family. (Nyx and Crowe.) Crowe personally doesn't have any braids in her hair because her scalp is sensitive. Most people in Galahd have black to light Brown hair. With lots of people having wavy to curly hair.
Insomnia
Think modern Japan/Tokyo. A lot of people have dark colored hair, and unique/outlandish hair styles are not allowed. There are strict rules in work places and schools in insomnia. No long hair for men. Dyed colors are not allowed. Ect. (These rules actually highly discriminate against Forigners and Galahd refugees. Its a huge problem.) A lot of adults actually find issue with Noctis and his 'childish' appeances. Due to the war, blonde/light colored hair is seen as 'foreign'. Prompto actually faces a lot of low key discrimination because of his hair color. Ignis would for his dirty blond hair as well, but he doesn't because his family is so well know.
Outer Lucis
People don't give a fuck. People tend to wear whatever they think is practical. There is a lot of variety in peoples across the continent, with pockets of culture here and there. Life is too tough to be worrying about diffrences. Is what most people say.
Niflheim
Around Eos Imperials are always depicted as having blonde/white/light colored hair. Expecially in the nobility. Because the Aldercapt family has been in rule for a long time and they have these traits. However the majority of citizens actually have brown/black other shades of hair. Freckles are very common among the population- and considered to be increadibly endearing. Southern Niflheim is one of the very few places on Eos where you will find people on Eos with naturally red hair. Which is actually the rarest hair color on Eos.
Tenebrae
Also depicted as a people with blonde hair, due to the Nox Fleurets. Though in this case the trope has a little more accuracy. Most of the Tenebrae population have blonde to light brown hair; and it actually has the highest number of albino people in the world. So silver/white can even be found in some cases. Heterochromia, like what Ravus has, is also not too uncommon either. Though the more southern in the country you get; towards the Niflheim border; the less common these traits are.
Altissia
Has the a largest variety of people types and cultures within its borders. Since it is a sea fairing culture and traditionally saw a lot of immigration/migration from diffrent regions around the coasts. Altissia has the largest population of people with dark skin, and curly hair however. (Types 3, and 4.) Thus a you see people with dreads, braids, weaves, ect. Expecially as you get out into the smaller islands. Which lead up and into Galahd. Each island tends to have its own culture or prefered/unique style. As well as traditions similar to Galahd's braids.
