Which post was being referenced in your tags on djuvlipens post about europeans and immigration? If you don't mind, I'm curious

i didn’t realise people actually read my posts. anyways i’m not sure but it was some fuckass european saying that immigration is different in america than it is in europe - that is to say that (legal!) immigration to america is okay but immigration to europe is some kind of atrocity.

it’s just copium, cause these kind of people don’t like anti-immigrant right wing americans and doesn’t want to associate themselves with them, so they perform these mental gymnastics to justify opposing immigration of certain ethnicities to europe on the (untrue) belief that these people are violent/abusive/anti-social/scroungers/whatever terrible adjective is popular to use at any given time.

especially funny when the french complain about the algerians or the dutch about the indonesians cause it’s like.. my brother in christ this is your fucking fault.

i still think about the titan submersible. tragic loss of life, definitely. i feel especially for the nineteen year old boy and his father.

i also think about the boat of migrants, 500 or so, who died off the greek coast. we don’t know the exact number and most of their bodies were never recovered.

the usa and canada spent so much money to try and find these five men on the submersible, so much airtime was given to them, an outpouring of support and sympathy, and so much empathy, so much empathy for these people, who must’ve been cold and scared at the bottom of the ocean before they died quite suddenly and according to the experts, completely painlessly.

on the other hand, the greek coast guard is being charged with neglect because nobody had any empathy for the poor desperate men on that boat, fleeing pakistan, palestine, syria, egypt. no effort to save them, not much airtime, no outpouring of support, and of course no empathy for these men, who were presumably also cold, and scared, and died quite horribly in the ocean when their boat sank.

there might’ve been a hundred children on that boat, all of whom died. we don’t know, and there’s not enough care or will to find out. there’s also not enough care or will to prosecute the coast guard for this entirely preventable sinking.

10pm: time for my daily despairing of the rightward swing in irish and european politics... i have never lived anywhere but in ireland and i speak irish but i can't even consider myself irish anymore because i'm not white. what happened?????

well, it's hardly any surprise that the man who devised the MRF (a subunit of the british army, later described as a "legalised death squad" by one of its former members,) is the very same man who created the counter gangs to terrorise and torture the mau-mau in kenya.

and yet, here we are. brigadier sir francis kitson viewed the people of kenya and northern ireland as 'little more than laboratory rats to test his military theories." his pet project in northern ireland, the mrf, had a former member testify, "we were not there to act like an army unit, we were there to act like a terror group."

he only died last year, peacefully, at home. british colonialism is a disease.

whenever i feel depressed i read a novel (fiction!) in irish and then i remember im a minority language speaker fighting the good fight against colonialism and i feel better about myself

(the book by the way was amstardam by éamon ó ruainí, it’s a very short novel but a great read!)

the zionist to outspoken racist pipeline is crazy like obv a degree of racism is necessary to be a zionist but u argue with these people long enough (even, or perhaps especially, with nice zionists, liberal zionists, zionists who consider themselves anti racist,) and eventually you start getting takes like "south african apartheid was good, actually," and "nelson mandela is a fraud" and "it's not always wrong to kill children" and "things popular with brown people tend to be wrong," and "british muslims tend to be terrible people." crazy!
