My parents are the best! I explained about how a new kiln traditionally needs a “kiln god” to watch over the firings (a tradition that goes back to early Greece and China! Swipe right!) a Mom sent me her copy of “William” the very famous MET Art museum Egyptian faience hippo, that my Dad bought her 45 years ago to be my kiln god! William is the Mascot of the MET but more importantly he is one of the earliest examples of glaze technology with the lovely soda lime silica blue glaze. I can think of no better Kiln god to watch over my glaze loads then one of the earliest examples of glaze who was also worshiped as a god. I will have to get him a special shelf to each over the kiln with his little buddy! #kilngod #kiln @metmuseum @skuttkilns #pottery #fiaence (at Jackson, Wyoming)
