Grimm + Person of Interest + LOST + some extra elements from Ray Bradbury’sThe City
A young woman wakes up with no memory of herself in themiddle of a bustling metropolis, which is located on an island in the middle ofthe ocean. She is immediately accosted by a strange voice inside her head, which names itself “Eve”. Eve tells her that she is special, and that she mustundertake a great task to eliminate “the scourge” which threatens the city’speace and way of life.
As our heroine discovers, this “scourge” comes in the shape of monsters thatlive under the guise of humans. And these aren’t monsters such as vampires andwerewolves and things which are relatively humanoid - these are monsters asabstract and inexplicably terrifying as levitating disks covered in eyes, athrashing mass of tentacles that can pull in anything into itself to grow, anda giant jellyfish-like creature whose tendrils can cut through glass and steel.
Our heroine, with the help of Eve and some strange abilities she never knewshe had, starts to identify these members of “the scourge” and eliminate them. However, as time goes on, she begins to realize that these monsters aren’t asthreatening and dangerous as Eve makes them seem – many of them seem only towant to live their lives in peace, and are only trying to defend themselveswhen their lives are threatened.
The heroine then accidentally befriends one of these monsters (who lookslike a young teenager but is, in fact, a giant plant-like thing). The monster tells herthat the city itself is not just a normal city – it is, in fact, a very, veryold and powerful god in the shape of a city. It wants nothing but to keep itselfrunning the way it wants itself to run, to the point where it is eliminating allthe previous residents (the monsters) just so that it can replace them withdull artificial “human” replicants that will follow the exact orders, rules, and laws it imposes.
In a BIG GIANT PLOT TWIST, our heroine turns out to be an artificially madehuman being created by the city to eliminate everyone who defies the naturalorder of the city- Eve, the voice in the heroine’s head, is the city giving herorders. WILL OUR HEROINE AND HER FRIEND DEFY EVE AND BRING NORMALCY TO THELIVES OF THE SCOURGE? TURN IN NEXT WEEK TO FIND OUT.
