starting this year I want to start using my blog as an actual blog for my fiber works (crocheting and knitting) alongside my fiber journal!
So hello, I finished a project already for 2023! Found this amazing pattern called Papa Spooky Cowl that perfectly fits my dream aesthetic (folky punky grandparent) and started knitting it on dec 18. It still needs to be blocked but I consider it finished on jan 2 anyway.
[ID: two images of a grey and burnt orange knitted skull-patterned cowl. the bottom ribbing, top ribbing, as well as the skulls and motifs of the body of the cowl are the burnt orange color. In the first image, the cowl is still on the needles and is laid flat on a white, blue, black, green and red background. In the second image, a person is wearing the cowl around their neck covering their nose and mouth.]
this was my first foray into stranded colorwork and i think im still battling tension issues with the alt color floats. if you knit you might be able to see the puckering in some of the longer stretches of one color which was a little bit improved by me switching to a yarn guide (rather than picking up and letting go of each yarn every time I had to switch). i have my eyes on another cowl pattern on insta but i want to keep practicing colorwork before I dive into that one.
yarn: Wool and the Gang’s The One Merino in colors Terracotta Blush & Moondust Grey
needle: Size 4.5mm (7) and 5.0mm (8) on 21” circulars
also if anyone is reading this, i can send a link to the pattern if anyone wants it! it was a really well written, free download pdf
this was a lot of fun and makes me really excited to try out more colorwork. im thinking about looking for a chunky yarn sweater vest … or maybe i should be finishing the cotton candy tunisian crochet sweater i started last March 😅
