cast these socks on on Christmas Day! and I finished the first sock on New Years!! ….until I realized I didn’t pick a stretchy enough bind off and they suddenly didn’t fit. not to worry tho, I frogged back to the beginning of the ribbing to try Jeny’s surprisingly stretchy bind-off this time :3

also, a first for me: I broke a pair of circulars knitting the first sock! it was a super cheap pair, so that tracks lol. I replaced them with chiaogoo and the difference is so obvious, these are way nicer. The cord is a lovely, like braided metal and they don’t get in the way like the plastic ones tend to

woah! work travel, you know what that means? it means on Sat. I started a simpler project than 5 color colorwork socks so I could have a plane project.

after arriving, I’m here, which means I just have to pick up the stitches around the thumb and I’ll have a new mitten! I wanted an easy quick project, and mittens will be very useful. I’m in a caroling group and outdoor gigs are cold where I’m at lol

Plus I’m a local yarn store supporter and I got to check out the place closest to my new apartment since I moved last month. I’ll show off the final project but yay, most of a mitten! maybe I’ll be done at the end of the week when I come back home!

One mitten down - almost. I forgot to bring along a tapestry needle, so it’s done but the ends need weaved in. I never really liked weaving in ends for crochet but I find doing it for knitting to be really satisfying and fun. Specifically the duplicate stitch version on stockinette

listening to/watching: doctor who + choir rehearsal I didn’t go to in person since I wasn’t feeling well

ive been trying to improve my colorwork and socks seem waaay less intimidating than a whole sweater. and aren’t these socks adorable? they’re from animal crossing ♡

the curse of colorwork is accidentally skipping an entire row on the chart then tediously picking your way backwards. and dropping a stitch or two on the way for good measure

update: I will be restarting the sock 😔 technically again. I didn’t do the gauge swatch and also I didn’t even make the right size for my foot according to the chart so whoopsy! I got all the way to the foot portion and yeah, she’s passable around my leg but wayyy too big for my foot

A notebook.

I mark it on the pattern (paper or digital).

I keep notes on a phone or computer.

Any random scrap of paper will do!

A spreadsheet.

I don’t. :) (Or it’s in your head).
