Fic i associate with you: Independence 🌲

I wrote Independence as a triple treat for me: I wanted to write about a reporter (cause I’ve been one), I wanted to write about cooking and being creative in the kitchen (I’m a chef) and I wanted to write a “love letter” to Rhett (it’s not a secret how much I love that big dork). Mountain man!Rhett is probably my favorite version of the Rhetts I’ve written about.

The Lives & Deaths of Rhett McLaughlin!

I actually had the idea for this fic in my head for about 7 years. I had a vision, of sorts, of two girls playing in a corn field, one blonde and light-skinned and the other with black hair and darker skin. I knew it would be about reincarnation and losing a loved one, over and over. I never got around to writing it.

But years later I stumbled across RandL and eventually started writing. And suddenly the idea of writing about reincarnation couldn’t leave my head. I wrote it all in less than 3 months, and I still miss it desperately.

That wasn’t a very sensational secret, was it? 😬😄 Thanks @lallyloo ! 💖💖💖

Fun fact/Secret about this fic: Ive likely given you lots of insight into this fic because I was so excited for it CJCNAKXJSLAOZM.

What I can say is my kiddos were born prematurely which means I am familiar with being the bedside parent to a little one. I deliberately made a point to mention the beeping and buzzing of machinery because despite it probably sounding simple, I remember them so vividly!

In the Castle of the Jewel 💖 for the fic association game, please!

I also think of you when it comes to In the Castle of the Jewel, so that is a nice full circle, right?

I could talk for hours about this one. As I said it already, it is based on the wicked white witch's, Angela Carter' The Lady of the House of Love, which is part of her feminist retelling of fairy tales/spooky stories. In the story the vampire is a woman feasting on young virginal men, playing with her tarot (hence the title), and when I reread the story, I knew that the sad, lonely, longing undead woman has to be Kikyou. The other part though? He has a bicycle (hehe) and he is like the sun, so that was no question for me that it needs to be Kagome. (And thus my love of our sun and moon, aka KagKik really started.) The original story is much longer, and I have more backstory based on that explored in my head (Nosferatu is Naraku, who controls the Countess, for example), but I write short-short stories, and I felt it worked as it was.

The Countess has a pet lark in the original, which I obviously changed to shinidamachu, but it made me think of this beautiful piece, which I listened to a lot while writing, and now is forever connected to Kikyou in my head. It will come back in the next KagKik story I am writing currently.

Fun fact/secret regarding this fic: The inspiration behind the cleaning fics came from me one day wondering how Tony deals with a bird shitting on him mid-flight. From there came the thought of a rather comical car wash but for suits and thus 'Welcome to the Car Wash'

It quickly evolved into multiple ideas that would then be written as a 5+1 gift 😌

Oh Kokoro, the love of my fic life... It is entirely @kirrtash's fault! The prompt of the event was to write something nsfw (coming in the next chapter it seems), and I was like, okay I wrote InuKag and KagKik so far and I think I would be comfortable with both, and she was like

I absolutely love this fic, mainly because of the many many times Kirrtash and I shared headcanons, and talked about motivations (and Kikyou! we talked so much about Kikyou), and I am so glad I got to know her, she is the best really (and the art!!! omg the art!!!!).

Fun fact, we have a playlist! It started with me having a few songs to get into the mood, then Kirrtash added some songs too. You can listen here. It is rather angsty, and has some very Kikyou songs.

I am sure I will have other things come to my mind after I post this, hehe.
