Santa here! Ah, you’re a fan of the classic movies! I love White Christmas as well and have definitely seen Holiday in Handcuffs even if it was awhile ago!
So, let’s get down to it because my elves are getting ready to write for you. What kind of stories do you like? From scrolling through your page, I think I see a little bit of everything, which is good for me since I’m *mostly* an AU writer😜 What kind of story would you like here? A holiday one? One for any time of the year? Are there any tropes you like? What about ones you don’t like? Feel free to overload me with information so I can pick out which ones will work for your story! I want to make it great for you!
I’ll be back to ask you more CS questions and maybe some fun holiday ones! 🎉🎄
Santa, you’re back! :) It’s good to hear from you again. I do love the classics - both in Christmas movies and in general, I’ll admit to having a weakness for “oldies but goodies”. I love new holiday flicks as well; I left out Love Actually in my previous list, but it’s another one I really like (particularly the storyline with the author and the housekeeper who don’t speak the same language, then each learn the other’s language so they can confess their feelings! It’s lovely!)
I like all the happy/cheesy ones Hallmark puts out each year too. One of my students was just commenting the other day that his mom loves those, and he hates them because they’re so predictable. But that’s the beauty of them! You know going in that everything will work out, and you’ll end up with a warm cozy feeling, like being wrapped in a blanket and drinking cocoa, only in movie form.) In fact, I just watched one that was new this year where the female lead was learning to dance and fell for the dance instructor... Christmas Waltz, I think it was called. That leads right into a couple of things - tropes or story elements, that is - that I really like. I love if dancing is involved (probably because I would love to learn how to dance! Or, you know, just be graceful and not a big klutz! ;p) I also love it when the couple seem to start off annoying each other and bickering - clearly they do like each other and don’t want to admit it, that sort of thing.
I also love coffee shop and book shop set stories - ALWAYS. I’m an absolute sucker for those. Returning home - either to family or just one’s hometown - for the holidays is usually a winner, and childhood friends, or first loves lost and then found again work in nicely with that...
As you can see, there are lots of things I like, and I’m not super picky. I’m not the hugest fan of Regina, but if she’s in there as a side character and isn’t a jerk to Emma or Killian that’s fine - but I definitely want her to keep her mitts far away from Graham if he’s in the story. Oooh! Major plus if Graham is a living and happy side character! <3
Okay Santa, don’t put me on the naughty list! I’ll stop rambling now! :)
