A Funeral and A Concert
Yesterday morning, we drove to Orillia for the funeral of the mother of one of our brothers-in-law. I had to get up at 7:30 a.m. to be on the road by quarter to nine. Normally, I don't get up until 9, at the earliest.
When I worked, I got up most days at 4:30 a.m. so when I retired, I said the only time I was going to get up early would be when I leave on vacation. But, obviously, a funeral is just as important.
We actually knew the deceased. She was a very nice and cheerful woman and I know that she'll be missed.
Didn't love the service much but that's because it was religious and I don't do religious. I'm not saying I don't believe. I just think the whole afterlife is a bit to swallow. Personally, I would love there to be a heaven after I die where death will be wonderful and floating on clouds. But, realistically? I just find it hard to believe.
Our brother-in-law's kids and grandkids were there so that was nice as I haven't seen the newest one that was born in February since April and I haven't see the first one since August 2023. The older boy was born with multiple health issues so we haven't seen a lot of him.
We left Orillia around 2 p.m. with me in the backseat and JD in the front. I sat in the back so that I could nap on the way home since we were going to a concert later that night.
I didn't think I had slept but the 2.5 hour drive went by quite quickly so I think I must of.
The concert was only going to be 10 minutes from our house and it started at 7 p.m. and was done by 10.
We went to this concert mainly because my friend, MB is the bass guitar player for the band. They're also a great band to dance to.
We includes me, my husband, my friend AC, my husband's friend, E and his cousin, MG (also my friend).
During the band's intermission, their dancers taught us how to do a couple of line dances so that was fun. My friend, AC didn't get up to do the line dancing with us. I'm not entirely sure why as it wasn't much different than our folk dancing classes.
I had a tuna sandwich and some dessert squares at the funeral and then a bag of chips on the way home, some popcorn at home before the concert and then a Greek salad, that was mainly green peppers, which I don't love raw and some garlic bread with cheese.
We were dancing to 500 Miles by The Proclaimers when I started to feel unwell. I felt like the food was making me feel acidy and decided to leave early so I left the concert an hour early. I had driven AC to the concert so she left with me so I could drive her home before I went home.
I slept in until 10 a.m. this morning so I hope that today will be good.
