Hello friends in LA, if you are around this weekend the feature film that I shot and produced in Cuba is screening at the Downtown Los Angeles Film Festival on Saturday. The film is Art Jones's latest feature called 'Forbidden Cuba'. We flew into Havana as Hurricane Sandy was battering New York CIty and shot for 19 days straight without any permits or permission. We crisscrossed the island traveling from Havana to Vinales, Cienfuegos, Santiago, Trinidad de Zaza and Santa Clara. Using a small cast and crew and working with a number of locals we met in our travels, we shot a buddy film which I like to describe as being just like 'Heart Of Darkness' but done as a comedy. This film is a lot of fun and it looks like it cost much, much more than it actually did. Consider this your invitation to the Cuban holiday you've always wanted but haven't made the time to take.
