       the HEAT was much of a BURDEN of its own accord: temperature was a refined asset to a reptile. too hot or too cold rendered the large lizards useless, taking shelter in the relief that the shadows provided. water was also an essential method of alleviating distress, but there was no such resolution carved from simplicity that one could pluck from thin air to rid it of the FLIES that buzzed with incessant persistence. charlie’s tail whipped through tepid air, swatting with brisk lashes in hopes of warding off the PESTS. it doesn’t prove too successful, and soon jaws join in the mission, snapping with vicious determination at the hordes of insects which seem to have made it their AIM to infuriate her. an angry hiss seeps past her teeth, unaware of her company.
